Basically, I will hold on to those stocks that survived the previous crisis well (telcos) and sell the rest. ;)

By the way, I have a 50k warchest coming in 2014. So, that will increase my cash position significantly. :)

Can't wait to get started on the journey..gotta wait till i'm 21 then can open an account and advance forward. Now can only see see and observe..

thanks

for someone who has ~100% cash holding, do u recommend that i wait for prices to come down ?

i hope to adopt ur style of investing

100% cash! Wow!

I recommend to start by using 50% cash buying blue chips like Singtel. Its price $3.15, is reasonable now. Starhub is too expensive.

Then keep the other 50% to average down when prices drop. ;)

Singtel dividends coming this December. :D

I agree that Starhub is expensive to go in at this point in time as we speak.

I am not sure about Singtel though.

the passive income are the rental income, copyright income, shareholder dividend, royalty , bank deposit, franchise and social media website affiliate income. To achieve it,set goals and objective , work hard , save money before spending, plan your personal cash flow and do some homework on investment(not only share market) before put money on it.

Passive income can also include having children (OOOooo the govt would love me) and bringing them up well. Your ROI will come in about 25 years. ;)

If you are looking at kids as investment, they will also look at you as relationship manager and treat you as one outsider.

Franchise not passive

Passive income can be franchising business,

I attended a few franchise meetings before. Most outright tell you don't expect a franchise to be an ATM. It does require owner involvement. You need to quit your day job. And purely by the fact that you're sinking in a significant amount of money, you will naturally want to be involved and not leave things to chance.

On the other side, as a franchisor, of course it's a full time job to keep it competitive and fresh. Else nobody will want to license from you.

IMHO, franchising is not a normally passive income. Unless your dad ran it for years until autopilot and highly profitable, then you just take over.

need help in helping my parent on their financial status because I can't apply my own mentality of how I am invest/saving now on them as they are in their retirement years.

parent both are 55 and 60 respectively,
currently got about 800k parking in account, every month still got passive income .

main aim is not to let it sit there and go waste .

they don't like FX currency FD or anything that got to do with insurance/investment link policy

is there any good approach particularly for their age group?

Wa.....800k cash

Buy property and rent out. :)

Parent already got passive income and should retire and enjoy their retirement...the son and daughter should not dictate what the parents should do with their money...the son and daughter should think about their own retirement...if the son and daughter could not even save money to invest on his own, expect to invest/speculate with parents money?if son or daughter already investing, why bother about parents who already got 800k for retirement?
