Once upon a time, I put my speakers above the monitor. Actually many studios do that too... but they do have an angling mount to point the speakers downwards.

But yea, tweeter behind the screen is generally a no-no. How do you even get your speakers to fit behind the screen to begin with. Some speakers are short (e.g. Audioengine A5+) but that's still 23cm

But to get the Pebble as a consequent is... mmmmmmphffff. I mean, it is ok for what it is, but it might be better to see what your table can fit before choosing the last resort. I would pick iLoud over Pebble any time, but we're talking about a $40 speaker... so it works
very little choice leh, my desk smalll and my screen is 34" ultra wide.
so i can only put slightly behind monitor screen and if the speaker/monitor height too high, it will be partially block by the monitor screen. my table to monitor screen bottom is only like 12cm+ depend on how i adjust it

mount your monitor to a monitor mount on your table. then buy a sound bar.

i turned off the bass knob on the R1280dbs to the zero position. so i guess the speakers wont have any bass eq.

But on my usb soundcard there is, in which my r1280dbs is connected to.

haha had a glance of that article. its more like saying that noise will affect sleep but i think its not related to sub woofer? since i am playing this not during my sleep haha..
I used to have the creative G5, if you don't want your soundcard to mess with your signal iirc there is a direct mode setting, I use that to listen to music.

Playing game at night I will use the acoustic engine artificially to make the game sounds "bigger" without cranking up the vol.

i see. i dont play game with my speakers because i need to hear footsteps, so will surely use headset. currently using the audeze maxwell.

for my sub, i still dont know whats the best LPF setting to put it at for the r1280dbs. the knob is 30hz to 160hz and not sure which to put. Maybe a professional audio expert can advise haha. i now just put midway at 12 noon on the knob. guess thats the safest position to be on.

If you're forced to choose between two bad situations I'd go for normal speakers i.e. bookshelves slightly behind monitor. You can even angle your speakers outwards. Or even aim your speakers diagonally backwards so it reflects off your rear wall diagonally. The end result is still better than buying lousy speakers.

But still, how do you have so much space behind the screen to put the speakers.

If you connect to R1280DBs, then put max i.e. 160Hz

my table is those 2 tier level table, behind is higher, infront is lower that hold the monitor.
i was planning to put small speaker at the front lower table since the back higher table will be almost or completely block by the monitor screen. And maybe futher down the road i have to change to flat bigger table to totally resolve this kind of space issues.

Maybe have to put 2 speaker on speaker stand...
like very over like that lol.
Thats why i think just temporary buy some small speaker to provide me with some sound first.
Not like i do music or play music now, i just play game, watch youtube/movie etc.

If its just temporary monitor blocking the speakers is not that bad. Gaming is plain better with headphones or IEMs. No point buying speaker stands for temp solution.

i only use headphone when i need to chat with my friends on discord or play sound sensitive games like shooter to hear footstep and so on.
so when i play other games, i just use speaker to be more relax on my ear/head.

I'll conclude as the only space you have is below your monitor.

In that case Pebble Plus (Sale: $49) or the Pebble ($39), or some soundbar. In a pinch you can also put Gigaworks T20/T40 or iLoud sideways, although that will have narrow horizontal dispersion. But if you're worried about narrow horizontal dispersion there's also the Bose Companion 2 (or Companion 20) which is full-range speaker so it doesn't suffer from directivity issues when placed sideways. I know this sounds kind of weird when I also say avoid speakers with no tweeter, but hey things like Pebble also has no tweeter.

yea, i got consider t20 since is shorter compare to t40 but still like 10cm over my monitor height.
bose companion 2 i just google is like 6cm over. when you said placed sideways, you mean placed horizontal instead of vertical right?
Bose Companion 2 may be a good option if the speaker is decent

For budget IEM I would recommend Sal notes zero tuned by local guy who runs the biggest IEM database of frequency responses Crinacle. 29-35 bucks and very decent quality. Goes around ear so wont fall out.

T20 would a nice simple setup. Plenty of them in carousell for really cheap.

Since it's a temporary speakers. Anything smaller than T20 would be Creative inspire T10 or Audio Technica ATSP95.

Can try budget iem like salnotes zero or tangzu wan'er. The cable hook around the ear probably might be more secure, but personally I find iem not comfortable for wearing for prolonged period of gaming session compared to headphone.
