Sometimes I don't know which to call the actual price

Is it worth the upgrade over R19U tho

I was under the impression these were selling for $19.90... remember when for $20 the only choice we had was Sonic Gear 303? I remember buying from CyberActive in Compass Point.

Ironically enough, cheap speaker reviews are where having a measurement mic would really matter since at these price ranges the performance varies a lot, but people who buy cheap speakers also tend not to have a measurement mic.
Got my R19U back in 2020 for $31

Cheap speakers or rather simple speaker.
I don't have really good experience expect Logitech Z120.

Unfornuately Logitech have discountinued this model and replace it with this model.

I am still testing this model so far not impressed with it's sound.
Maybe due to the driver cuz this one the bass isn't that as strong as the z120.
Edifier wise I haven't played with R19U but the R1010BT I have.

This model which have been discountinued very long ago, the issue is the bass is very off.
Usually bass should be thump thump this one the bass doesn't sound like bass.
When I see there are cheaper Edifier speaker, I dare not try cuz if this model they screw
up the design than those cheaper should have the similar design issue.

Only R1280DB and R1280DBs are my pick as they not only sound balanced but the bass
sound like bass.
Creative speakers I reserve not to comment mainly due to product quality.

for the budget cheap speaker range, i think the r1280db and r1280dbs sound pretty good for its price honestly. of course cant compare to the other better pricier bookshelf speakers, but for around $120, it is definitely good for PC usage. Add the T5 in for sub, and its pretty much enjoyable. i remember i bought it with some coupon discounts and only paid like $105ish for the R1280dbs in Lazada. brand new local set.

And the best part is, the aesthetic of the cheap r1280dbs also looks nice. That side wood design makes it look like a premium bookshelf speaker haha.. I bought it because my desktop theme consists of wood and black elements, thus this speaker fit the setup well and best of all, its so cheap, yet sound decent imo, just lacking in the bass but can be compensated by getting a sub.

How is the creative stage SE? Is it good? Anybody have it?
I have it.

OK for games and general use - especially you want the aesthetic or have space constrain (imagine your monitor is big and your table is small so u cannot place speakers beside etc etc)
movies - not recommended - if u want bass
music - don't get this

If you plan to use Passive Bookshelf Speaker and Active Subwoofer, this is a perfect desktop all-in-one...

If you ask me, I would top up a bit to get NAD 3020 V2. The NAD bundle by Alpha Audio quite attractive. Around this price also can get entry level Marantz, Denon, or Yamaha. They are larger so I guess can be used as monitor stand.

Asus xonar essence STX, this soundcard literally blew me away, good desktop speakers system also need a reasonably good sound card to drive it.

Rarely people use sound card these days.
Not to mention not many options like Creative etc. Only.
On board sound depends, not all are decent like Asus supremeFX for ROG boards are decent.

When I listened in direct mode (no filter or efx), comparing creative g5 vs topping DX1 (dac) with beyer DT770 pro, there isn't any noticeable difference in sound quality tbh.

Probably one of the reason to get a soundcard such as creative g5 are for handy features like scout mode if you play fps games.

Personally I stopped using DAC and soundcard for a few years already. Used to use Audiolab M-Dac which is around $1000 and paired with aktimate Blues active speakers. But personally find the whole setup is too bulky on my desktop to my liking and the onboard sound on my Asus boards are pretty decent.

As my home are using all Sonos products, so might as well use Sonos for my PC.

Currently I had been using my onboard sound with Sonos Beam gen2 which uses the HDMI to Toslink convertor. pretty happy with the sleeker setup.
