sit my small speaker on a sponge material, and its my window problem:(. I have one plane of louvered window next to me facing the outside corridor (next to my neighbor's door) ...and i thought my curtain will block the noise but the noise outside is very loud and very clear. now searching for noise blocking curtains.... thru walls and doors, not so bad..sound is muffled
Noise blocking curtains are not much of a use. You gonna need this => https://noiseplaster.com/windows?gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoabrr8a5_gIV2FUrCh2h8gVdEAAYASAAEgK1ZvD_BwE

And this is the internal of your JBL LSR305 speakers for your pleasure. :) This speakers seem to have no protection grill and has built in fuse similar to @Op_valkyris Yamaha HS5 using UK power plug. Avoid using fused UK power plug
with such speakers and there will make huge difference. :)

That's interesting. How does the fuse affect audio. Currently the speakers are connected with random cables I found in my power cable box.

Fuse or without fuse, it has world apart affection on all electronics/electrical items. If you seen my computer setup
pictures in Hardwarezone clinic Knowledge Base, topic "EMI shield for cables". All the plugs are non fused and plugged
directly to wall sockets. They may or may not be built in fuse in all electrical/electronics items. Electricity from the fused plug actually not even strong enough to pass through the thick power cord to your electrical/electronics items.
Even using a 3 to 2 pins convertor for my speaker's power adapter make difference as 2 pins plug
does not has full contact on UK type wall socket. Believe or not is up to you. :)

Alright will give a it a shot. Check if I am using a fused cable and switch if it is.

Just bought a set of cable from Amazon to plug in to my speaker via the on board audio on my motherboard.. I mean I had another cable that is already connected to Creative ZxR sound card... speaker using Edifier R1850DB...

And I thought I might not hear a difference.. but the difference is quite big... the sound coming from the Soundcard is fuller and more detailed.. and better bass also. :D

Specs for the motherboard audio (Using Asus X670E ProArt Creator WIFI)
Audio
Realtek S1220A 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC*
- Impedance sense for front and rear headphone outputs
- Internal audio Amplifier to enhance the highest quality sound for headphone and speakers
- Supports: Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
- High quality 120 dB SNR stereo playback output and 113 dB SNR recording input (Line-in)
- Supports up to 32-Bit/192 kHz playback*
Audio Features
- Power pre-regulator reduces power input noise to ensure consistent performance
- Premium audio capacitors
- Dedicated audio PCB layers
- Audio cover
- Unique de-pop circuit
* Due to limitations in HDA bandwidth, 32-Bit/192 kHz is not supported for 7.1 Surround Sound audio.
** A chassis with an HD audio module in the front panel is required to support 7.1 Surround Sound audio output.

Am currently using the Edifier R1280dbs and looking to improve the sound of hearing music from my pc. I like music similar to the songs of the chinese singer G.E.M.

I think the sound coming out of the R1280dbs is decent but it's somehow lacking some 'oomph' which i presume is bass. Can't give me the concert feeling.
Should I buy a T5 subwoofer to enhance the sound, add a sound card? or any recommendations? Willing to sell the R1280dbs to add to the budget.

Have a budget of around $350. TIA!

5.5 Sales, its at $149. Get the Edifier T5 and add to the setup. Set crossover at 80hz and adjust volume of the T5 sub to your liking. That should help with the lack of bass.

If you wish to add a DAC. You can consider iFi UNO USB Headphone dac/amp ($111) for your PC. It also has RCA out in the back which you can connect to the R1280DBs. The iFi UNO will become a pre-amp (The volume control will allow you to control the RCA out at the back too)

If you do not wish to have a Pre-amp for your speakers, you can consider Topping DX1 ($139). The knob only controls the Headphone volume and the RCA out is line level and knob don't control the volume.

Can consider upgrade the sound card to Sound blaster Z.
Take note Creative have other range but I won't recommend spending too much on a
sound card.
Other than sound card will be a DAC.

I don't know who is G.E.M but i assume you want to inject life into your audio music. And one of the merit of my audio setup is life. With your budget and if you're not using high end on board sound. You can try creative soundblaster z
with T40 speaker and good reliable cable .

Thanks! Why did you recommend the T40 over the R1280dbs? Is it okay without a subwoofer?
