wanna get a gd teacher to teach me chinese pop piano...
learnt at play-by-ear for 2 mths but couldn't pick up much
i'm contactable at 90.23.08.35
Hi perhaps u could PM me your teacher's name? I'm an instructor at Play By Ear, and I personally feel the syllabus there is lacking. For me I do not really follow the syllabus, and I expose my students to a wide variety of music. French, Italian, what have you, I will expose you and teach you.
If u just learn and listen to chinese pop, you're not going to get good at improvising.
As far as i know PBE bans teaching scores with bass cleft. I do not know the reason why, but for me I'd like to give a more holistic approach for my students so I teach scores with bass cleft at my own discretion and improvise the full score. My students after they grad, must not be able to only play from fake sheets, they need to learn everything.
I might get fired for posting this as its easy to find out which instructor I am but all I can say is my conscience is clear. I wanna provide a holistic music education for my students. I do not want my students to grad after 3 yrs to only learn chinese songs and play fake sheets.
I got a earful from my boss yesterday for not teaching Zhou Jielun, Tong Hua etc, cuz I teach stuff like Sou le ciel de soleil (Under Parisian Skies), Donde Voy(Tish Hinojosa), songs by Yiruma, I will Wait for you, Sympathique (Pink Martini), Historia De Un Amor, Porque (Pochill) etc Go youtube the songs i mention and you will LOVE them instead of lame ass Zhou Jielun etc. I predict ill get fired soon. Haha! But like i said if im fired i'll be fired with a clear conscience.
Imho play by ear is excellent if u wanna learn a course in jazz. There is a VERY VERY GOOD instructor there, Johnathan. Very skilled player, VERY friendly.
