The list price was $1,999. Tried to bargain but could not get them to shave anything off, not even waiving the delivery charged. However, during payment, there was a further discount of $100 from the system, so I paid $1,919 total plus delivery.

Alternatively, if you want to consider a 508 display set, think there is one at Best (Compass Point branch IF I recall correctly) going for $2,599. Just saw it over the weekend, but did not check condition nor age of the set.

Thks for the reply.

Yesterday, I happen to see the 428XG at BD Vivo, it a display set. Chk with the saleman, the display set had been on display for a year plus and it selling at $1599/-.

Even though I own a couple of Pioneers, a 1 year old display is not so attractive. You can get another brand and enjoy most of the benefit of this older panel.

Now if you score a new Kuro KRP panel, then thats worth it.

When accessing the service menu, when you are done looking, just switch off the TV.

Thank you all for the help, I landed myself a brand new 428XG.

Next is the Blue Ray player, which model should I get considering that I have the 428XG? I am thinking of sticking to Pioneer, but I am open to other options.

It is not Blue Ray player, it is Blu-ray Disc Player. Consider Sony PS3?

At this price, could get 2 units of Panny C10. I would rather get a C10 instead.
Most dealers do not carry Pio, anyway, thus not easy to find.

You probably find it is going to be harder to get soon as most shops has disc them. It is not clear at this point that Pioneer will also sell LCD in Singapore. If all they have is 50" and above. I guess may be it is time for them to close Singapore operation of Plasma TV.

well, the odd thing is, even though Pioneer wants to close this business, it is not willing to lower the price to have less revenue. maybe it is willing to have no revenue and let its inventories rot in the warehouse and dispose them.

lcd market is very saturated. i don't see the point of Pioneer joining the lcd market and becoming an also-ran from a market leader in plasma.

it's better for them to exit the whole display.

You won't find them at fire sale prices since they are good and in demand, but if you bargain, the actual sale prices are lower.

Don't hold your breath on dirt cheap prices... get other brands then

Cheers

Is the Pio 428XG quality worth twice C10? Up to individual to decide.
My wallet protests.
Missed the Pio showroom unit at IMM in March. $1699 IIRC. I asked for extended
warranty which was denied.
Got a Samsung 42A410 over Panny PV8. Now contemplating C10 for another room.

Looks like you are more into quantity than quality. :s22:

I will rather pay another $300 more for a brand new 1 than getting a 2nd hand item...
