So the issue is restarting doesn't work as designed, ie even though you press "restart" it totally turns off and doesn't restart by itself until you hold on the "power" button? It's M5 not M5S right?

yup M5, not M5S. I initially thought it doesn't turn off, so I force by pressing and holding power button to turn it back on. But I realised if you wait long enough (sometimes a few minutes) it will eventually boot back up, just not sure why this reboot process need so long. this happens with any reboot scenario, restart from power menu, reboot after software upgrade, reboot after Google Play system update.

I think the update got glitch or incompatible to something.

After i factory reset, i make sure google and etc playstore all updated first.

Then there is this system update of 3 or 4 items i think belong xiaomi one. I also update that first.

So maybe need update the basic xiaomi system first before update the MIUI14? Just my thoughts.

Anyway now feeling lucky lol move on hope won't have problem again

no, send to service centre and they just did a software update/reinstallation for me. 😒

will need to wait for quite a while before you see the phone boot back up, it will eventually, I learnt to live with it for now.

With your confirmation, it looks to be device issue now, thought was just my unit.

So after my factory reset and update to miui14 successfully i can reboot all ok many times fast till i started install apps and migrate data over.

Now the problem of reboot can't boot up occurs again lol. To be actual, i think the reboot taking a long time.

I want to ask you for clarification.

So you went service centre they updated for you to miui14.

After that now your phone still can reboot fast? Or every time reboot will take a long time to boot? Long time like few minutes

So those who have this phone, how is the experience? I intend to buy this budget phone for my mother to use. So far the only problem I see is the weight, 200g seems quite a weight although she doesn't carry phone around in the hand.

they just help clean install of MIUI 14 build into the phone, initially when collected from service centre, it was fine. then like yours after migration of data and installing apps, it takes at least 3 to 4 minutes for the phone to properly boot back up after every restart.

good for basic use but if weight is a concern, I think you can look at Poco M5S instead.

Ahha. So meaning the shutdown probably taking longer time!

Mean the firmware not well written. Because only after installing playstore apps etc stuff then start using the phone then have such issue.

yup agreed, bought M5 cause M5S was OOS during that period I bought, if I waited until 6.6, could have gotten M5S instead, M5S 6/128 was just $30 more. 🤦🏻‍♂️

touch wood, i haven't encounter major issues on poco m5

but not using it as daily driver, more like a spare phone, only got it as i was lucky to win a poco contest to purchase it at 50% during launch sale

startup is slow, i don't think is a bug

this one is sub-$200 phone, have to manage expectations

why need to be scared haha. That's why asking here for more feedback. It seems like it's the latest upgrade that causes the issue. Can I check for those who has been using XiaoMi phone for long time, is it common their system update break the phone? do they normally come up with a patch to fix the issue after that?
