It might have gain the trusted site reputation way back in 2018 when it was ad free and the "reputation" just persist to this date, unlike the past, current website has 393 different ads listed
So why do news outlet still uses it as a source? because it's simply convenient for them to get notified on updates, they uses their ad free channel like rss, telegram, github commits notification, I am very certain none of the news outlet uses the ads full website itself
Just because everyone gotten conditioned to being used to ads, having their data harvested and nobody step back and questioned it, the standard of quality for "trusted site" sure has fallen a lot
So yes, I can trust their notification channel to let me know when there is an update but I sure as hell ain't trusting the website interface itself
I be damned to even recommend it, let alone trust it, after it throw 3 auto playing video ads with 1 fake download button in my face the first thing I opened it
People I know would probably be fooled into clicking the fake button and getting PUP or malware on their computer/phone
You could say people who don't use ad block probably shouldn't even be looking to update before it's officially stable and available within the setting menu of the phone
But damn, clearly website users isn't their main focus, unless there is a specific reason, ie: specific older firmware, I don't see any other reason for people to recommend it over the official webpage
