After many months of using this phone, I still find the phone is heavy. I got a few times the phone nearly fall off from my hand due to the top heavy build. I am still using the original case which add a little extra weight and thickness. Anyone got same feeling?

Yup the weight distribution not very good. Makes the phone feel heavy.

Do feel it a little, the weight distribution of my old F1 feels more balanced but not really an issue to me.

Plus the case the phone is heavy.. That's why a thin and light case is good.. So far loves this 2 cases...

Just an update. Finally tried using NFC on the MRT and bus and both work! Happy!
:s13:
Now i'm almost paying everything by mobile, kinda ironic since before i got my Redmi Note 9S, i had NFC on my Samsung phone and never tried a 2nd time since it didn't feel reliable. The detection is definitely way faster than when i tried it with my Galaxy Note 5 years ago.

Too bad the Gpay reward is only 3x a week.

You using gpay to pay for transport?

Btw guys for gpay, need to go in app then can scan? I tried waking my phone and tap on the terminal but nothing happens

Ya. Gpay is the default NFC payment app. Few things to note

1. NFC is at the tip of the phone, so you tap the top underside.
2. Gpay has to be the default NFC payment.
3. Phone i think need to be unlocked.
4. Select HCE wallet
5. Of course, NFC must be turn on and a Debit/Credit card link to Gpay :s13: (Should be the first point)

Get from official xiaomi store in shopee.. Safer. I feel xiaomi phone not as good quality as before due to many model chunk out at super fastpace.

I got this type of case for my older phones before. They are thin but offer not much protection and they made the phone quite slippery due to the matt finish. The original case from the box is weighted about 25g while nillkin frosted shield (my favourite case for my other phones) is also weighted at 25g. So actually not much difference because with most the cases available, the phone will reach nearly quarter kg. The original case actually not bad though it's quite thick.

I have been using Xiaomi phones since 2014, I would say build quality did improve since then. Normally I wouldn't get a model immediately at launch, sit out and look online for feedbacks on possible issues, then decide from there. The main issue now with Xiaomi phones I feel right now is half-baked software at launch and buggy updates subsequently, normally a factory reset should resolve any issues.

No need to unlock the phone, just need to wake up the screen, by double tapping the screen (be sure to enable in setting).

In GPay, set the credit card you wanna use for transport payment as default, and set GPay as your default payment app.

If need to track all transport transactions, install SimplyGo app, and register the same credit card with the app.

Before tapping in the bus/mrt remember to turn on NFC and mobile data.
If taking train in underground stations, make sure to use a mobile data plan that have signal underground.

Been using G Pay on bus and mrt for a while.

No need to unlock when using G Pay to tap on public transport and making retail purchases below $200. Only have to wake your phone, i.e. screen must be on.

Remember to set the secure element position to HCE wallet.

Sounds like a Samsung hah. But i'm sure the first Xiaomi phone wasn't as bad as the Galaxy S1. That phone right out of the box you wanna throw it away. They were using their own file system back then and when it was laggy like hell, i factory reset, turn on the phone and go Contacts app and it froze, imagine a clean phone laggy till that point. Good thing for custom rom back then, totally saved the phone. But the build quality and hardware reliability didn't come in until Galaxy S6. Took them a god damm 6 years to get things right.
