How's general battery life for this phone like for you guys? My unit probably need a few more charge cycles but so far I feel the battery life isn't holding up as well as my Redmi Note 8 Pro, idle battery drain is quite significant. On latest MIUI 12 EU ROM.

Maybe the latest firmware screwed it up. If i hardly use the phone, it can last about 3 days+ with around 3hrs SOT

usb power delivery. official spec used by many types of devices like laptops, so if u have a laptop with usbc charging it's very likely u can plug in your phone to your laptop charger for fast charging, no need dedicated plug.

One reason not to buy OnePlus hah. Quite scary with so many different standards and powers. I know majority of branded chargers have various voltage to keep things safe but it's still so dangerous cos sometimes people cheapo go buy cheap ones or cheap "branded" ones which could be fake and end up heating up the battery. Moreover, people like to plug in overnight, scary af lol. Most of the time i try to charge the battery with me around in the same room but sometimes still forget and go shower.

I'm no electrical engineer but if a charger only charge with 9V, it's dangerous to use it to charge the phone right?

Thanks! I do believe this EU MIUI 12 ROM I am running is very buggy, will probably go down to service centre to get them to flash MI global ROM instead. In the meantime, I will monitor it further.

quick charge 3 always had 12v 1.5a as one of its charging spec, and we havent seen much phones blow up while charging in the past 4 or 5 years (except maybe sammy note 7 :s13: ). most of the quick charge tech with 50w and above are also usually rated for over 9v, for eg mi 10 ultra uses 20v 6a for its 120w charging, and even though it splits that voltage to each battery it is still 10v 6a.

Oh but that would mean the phone itself has to be able to accept that voltage right? (which the Poco F2 Pro should) So does that mean generally, modern mobile phones which has fast charge of 18W and above are safer than low end phones that doesn't have fast charge in accepting a 12V charger?

Hi

Anyone encounter this.

I'm using ugreen QC3 charger and it's working fine.

When outside, I use Redmi QC3 power bank. Problem is sometimes the percentage charged does not increase at all. It's intermittent though. Using the same power bank with my Mate 9 / MiMax 3 don't have similar issue.

Similarly, using my old Anker Power bank (non QC3 but using Anker's proprietary charging tech) with F2 Pro have no issue. Just that charging is slower.

if they are rated for such high wattages, it should mean that the manufacturer has enough confidence for it to be safe. but even if u plug in an older phone that doesnt support quick charge, the qc brick should be able to detect that and deliver a safer, slower charge, usually at 5v 1a.

Hmmm. Was reading an article yesterday about this and still, i find that there's no sure way to know except to "trust" reputable OEM to have a smart charger that can regulate the voltage to phones that doesn't have quick charge.

as far as i understand in order to activate quick charge, usually will need some special circuitry or pinouts. so if the phone dont have, then the charger will deliver regular 5v.

I thought the phone will 'request' and accept only the current it can take? That's why we can just use any charger for any phone. If not there must be phone explosion news daily liao...

Planning to get Poco f2 pro from shopee. 8/256gb version.
Does it matter if it's a EU ROM ? I will still able to get firmware updates if not wrong
Those gpay sg and banking apps will still work as usual right?

That's why until now i'm unsure LOL. I read like too high current is no good, too low is also no good (mostly for laptop) but i think mobile phones these days are smart enough to handle it or at least handle it enough not to cause an explosion but will probably still be hotter than normal if something has a higher voltage is used for a phone that isn't meant for it.

I think the risk here is not with mobile phone but for other USB devices cos once you use one charger, you'll tend to use that only charger to charge everything.

Is it from the official global shop? If cannot work, the most you bring it to the shop to flash only.

No issue with usage, GPay and Banking apps all working well. Only thing is EU ROM is very slow in getting updates especially bug fixes, the current MIUI 12 EU ROM that my set is running on is full of bugs plus the high idle battery drain, I think I need to make a trip down to service centre soon and see if they can switch my ROM to the MI Global one.
