I was replying to mozartbeks regrading why my friends left the force which can be a long time ago. The new one direct SGT just started only.

Now still got corporal? I don't think so liao. Now new ranking all come in straight Sgt unless you NSF then corporal.

Oh man, do you know the reasons? Like what’s the most common reasons? I’m very sure SPF is the job for me but I’m a little afraid I might lose passion for it after signing on! Especially after hearing so many stories of people quitting.

One of the nice things about the SPF is that if you lose interest in one part, you have the option of transferring to another div, or specialist div, like if you were originally posted to Echo div, if you feel bored after 5 years, you can always go to PCG, and get another experience.

But if you get posted to Echo Div, especially at Orchard NPC, there are a lot of different cases, so you definitely won't get bored of it.

Most will start their career as NPCO. Maybe after 5 years later, other departments like CID may start to invite you to join them.

If you join them, you will have to wait very long for promotion cause opportunity will be given to the senior. That why you will wait for your promotion from SGT to SSG as NPCO but you will miss the opportunity to join other department and remain as NPCO.

For those who join as CPL, you may not get to be promoted to SGT after 5 years and you will be very sian at those fresh SGT (NSF & REG) joining you.

End day most likely your whole career will only be in NPCO especially you don't get to be promoted to higher rank when your turn come.

Some get degree but cannot become a SO while some decided to left the force to try their luck in private sector for graduate jobs.

I see, so opportunity will always be given to the seniors. I kept thinking that as long as I work hard I can be promoted LOL. Degree but cannot become SO? How come!

Yea! I heard different divisions get different treatment, apparently some divisions are treated much better than others. Is there a ranking on the popularity of divisions? Eg Echo, Alpha etc

Whatever hard work you do is at old department and in new department, you contribute nothing at all compare to the rest which is the reason opportunity will be given to seniors.

How come you ask stupid question? If everyone get a degree can automatic become SO, who is going to become PO?

But degree holders’ starting rank is SO, or Inspector now. How can one even go below the starting rank?!

If you apply for direct SO with a degree, SPF can don't accept you and end of story. But you are asking about PO now have a degree but why not promoted to SO (which mean your starting rank is CPL/SGT and you want a Insp rank just because you get your degree).

This is because SPF offer you PO position and not SO position. Getting a degree does not mean auto promotion. If you want SO, you needs to quit SPF as PO and reapply again.

07/05/2018 Police Selection Assessment

Hi all, I attended the SA yesterday and I a bit worried about the outcome of the SA. May I ask how will the interview affect the selection and how long we get to know about the rejection? My interview took around 15mins then ended, the interviewer told me "that's all, we got no more question". While two candidates in front of me took longer than I did. God bless me! Hope to get good news!

Oh, I guess we have a misunderstanding coz I was referring to signing on as a degree holder lol. Yea I get what you mean.

Mine was on 30th of April and I finished my interview about 10minutes. I want to believe that I did not stutter or talk long-winded that was why it took the interview 10minutes. I only have concerns with the psychometric test :s22:

According to the lady that revised my documents that day, it'll take 2weeks-1month for rejection to take place and 3-6months for selectees (I guess this includes the medical examination waiting time too).

Thank you for your reply and your information @Prxttyprxck. I did not do the psychometric test as I believe they got a previous record I do. Last time I was selected for PTU scheme but I got released due to Muscles tear, recovered and reapplied for Direct Sergeant Scheme again. So how's your waiting going now? Did u get any news yet?
