Hello! Anyone knows about Volunteer Special Constabulary? (VSC) for SPF. I applied on 8 March 2018 but have not received a reply yet. Anyone knows why it’s taking so long? The website states that my application is still pending TwT

Hey, I feel your disappointment. But don't be disheartened! I know of people who were successful after 3 tries! Don't give up and keep trying if it is what you really want!!

I just got an email for medical screening! Is this a good sign?

Date of shortlist: 19th March 2018

Selection Assessment: 26th March 2018

Notice of Medical Screening: 19th April 2018

I'm worried about failing medical due to my eyesight. -6.00 and -5.25 on my right and left eyes respectively. Do you guys think they will fail me because of my poor vision?

Yes, I heard from friends who are serving that at some point during training you get to make a list of 3 choices of your preferred vocation. Although where you are finally posted is dependant on the manpower requirements of the department and the suitability of the candidate, they usually accommodate to the choices of regulars more often than NS officers. Again, this is info I got from a friend serving his NS in SPF.

SA: 12th Feb (Interview, Physical Assessment and paperwork all done on the same day)
Medical: 11th Apr
Report for training: 10th May

What's AD??

As for panel interview, make sure you do your homework on SPF. Show them that you know the whole organisation well enough. A lot of information can be obtained from their website so definitely look through them before you go in. Knowing about the job scope of a police officer will also be very helpful e.g. working hours, how they prevent, deter and detect crimes, day-to-day duties. A lot of questions they ask will be base on what you answer. So, I would advice not to predict what questions they will ask. Just go in with a positive mindset and show that you are eager and really have the passion for the job.

Date of Application (FT): 23/04/18
Date of Shortlist: 23/04/18

Anyone know when they will send you the date to go for the PSA? Also any other convertees during POBC can share with me their experience?

U mean u had juz singed on as direct-entry sergeant with SPF? My younger bro also in 171 LF intake enlisted on 6 Feb this yr.

He plans to study a 3-yrs degree program in Mgt & Security Studies in SUSS after his NS & may apply for direct-entry inspector with SPF or other hometeam vocations or others after completing his study..

From what i know for the interview process is really long, so don’t give up. I’m not sure about how long the training is, but i can tell you that the training for SOTs (Not to be confused with the NS variant OCT) is a lot more relaxed. You do not get tekaned as much as OCTs but you go through a lot more mentally demanding courses. POBC will be a breeze for you if you’re already physically fit as there are barely unnecessary push ups from people refusing to comply with the rules (as all of them are there by choice, as opposed to NS). FIs will barely touch you. However your challenge starts when your ‘vocational’ training starts. Lots of law lessons and if im not wrong admin type of lessons.

What is SOT, OCT, POBC? I’m not good with variants sorry! Do you know the minimum fitness requirement and is there a minimum BMI? I know maximum is 25(?) but not too sure about minimum. I’m scared they will reject me because of my size and stuff

When you mean interview process is very long, do you mean the entire application process or just the interview part? :O

Also, do you recommend signing on during UNI or after graduating? Can you sign on during UNI but it’s not the scholarship kind (if u know what I mean)
