My first interview was last week! They asked a lot about past leadership roles, and also about the current affairs like GE :)

Btw, can anyone share how long is the waiting time to get an update for the second round for DEI? And whether they reject or accept, we'll get to know through email right?

I'm guessing you mean the tea sesh? I got the email for the second round about 1.5 weeks after my tea sesh but that was back in Jan/Feb so it might take longer now

Out of curiosity, anyone here know what’s the education requirement to get into DEI. Are there any successful cases get into it, with a diploma cert? Or example, like with a LTA rank(Green) w dip, viable?

Minimum is degree. If you want to be Insp with a diploma, you'd have to go through the long route which is to sign on as a Direct Entry Sergeant, do well, get degree sponsorship and then become a Inspector rank and file.

SAF ranks don't help much, though officer ranks shows you have leadership qualities but you still need a degree. It's a different ball game.

Okay this one I'm not too sure so do enlighten me, do the DES people have to take part-time degree during their sergeant tour before being given the opportunity to upgrade to DEI or will they only go for their studies after commissioning as a DEI?

DES officers can apply for sponsorship to universities based on their performance and recommendations by their boss.

Part time is also possible but it's seriously difficult as some of these officers work shift duty.

In some cases, some of them can be fast tracked to become Inspectors as well, without a degree, also based on performance. This is a rank & file Insp (climb rank) and it's different from a Direct Entry Insp.

For those who applied sponsorships/part time and even after obtaining a degree... they would still need to go through the DEI application process, go through interviews and impress the commanders and bosses. They may or may not be successful. Those who are, will go on to start their training and be commissioned as DEI.

No, DES have accelerated advancement only for those good performing sergeants can be promoted directly to inspector within first few years in the force, even without a degree.

Hi so I'm just gonna list down all the stuff that I went through for Stage 2, sequentially

1) English Essay writing. They will provide a topic relating to SPF and you're supposed to type it out using the laptop and print. Minimum 400 words. 30 mins. Hint : Definitely read up on SPF latest tech/gadgets & think of its usefulness to the community

2) Psychometric Test. Done on the laptop. So the questions can be about ethical stuff or how you would react in a situation etc. Can't really give much details, too complex

3) 100+ true or false questions. So these questions, you answer true or false. Some of the questions can be "Do you feel depressed all the time" or "Do you frequently have stomachaches" or "do you go to the doctor often"

4) Lunch break

5) Filling up administrative forms. So fill up bank account details, name, education stuff, declarations, uniform size measurements etc.

6) Go home

The essay can be about anything. Mine was not related to SPF directly per se. Advisable to write well for the essay because the panel interviewers will read your essay and question it if they aren't satisfied which happened to my friend.

Took mine during the first week of June and have yet to receive any follow-ups :O I did recall the staff saying that no response after 2-3 weeks is a good sign but cant help but worry :(

420h/m?!? I read that as 420hr per month. Isn't that like 14hr/day everyday?

Based on what I know, GRF does 12hr shift. The cycle goes morning-night-off-off i think. 8am to 8pm for morning and 8pm to 8am for night. Expect longer hours cos of briefing, drawing equipment and debrief etc. Not sure about others. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I don't know about DEI but for DES is defo not 420h/month = 14h/day cus my friend is a DES and based on her instaposts she mcm got like 1-2 days free per week and fireball is right, avg shift is 12h + the time for brief/debrief/equipment

So normally DES after training will go to NPC and work there, unless you get selected to other places like Police Coast Guard or Traffic Police etc.

So in a NPC, you work day and night shifts. 12 hours is the mininum but it can stretch even longer than that.

Day shift - Report at 7 - 7.30am ish. You draw your equipment & briefing. 8 start shift and you patrol whole day until 7.30pm where you return your stuff and debrief until 8+.

This is standard. But depending on which NPCs you are posted too, some are quieter, some are hectic. You can have a last minute case at 7.29pm and you are expected to go there and you can go home very late.

Night shift - Usually report at 6.30pm then draw equipment & briefing then start at 7.30pm. You will work until next day 8am. Again, some nights are quiet, some nights are busy.

Then you will have 2 days off. Cycle repeats.

Sometimes you have cases that you need to follow up/write a folder and reports. This means coming back on your off days at times to finish up work.

So in a month you will mostly work 14/15 days only. There will be one day in the month, on your off day dedicated for training. Means one off day is burnt, so you have to report back to HQ for training, like refreshing up on policing stuff and weapon handling etc.

Source - Well I used to be a NPC officer (NS) for 1+ years. This is what me and the regulars go through.

HAHAHA guys ****. I got it wrong minimum is to clock 240hrs/month.

But yeah just comparing pros and cons of aux and spf. Just wondering if aux actually do get paid higher if counted on hourly rate compared to spf.
