You try use your eye see, then change to scope while you bio the enemy hiding in jungle. Will lose sight one.

It is bad because it is heavy and your sergeant like to steal your gas regulator. Plus the plastic also not so durable.

Like I said, it is not suitable for an army that likes to tekan each other. It is great for turning defence budget to ST revenue and profit.
Never use in live conditions before. Only took the technical handling during my last ict which was ages ago. I prefer it over the m16 in terms of ergonomics and the scope except for the safe switch which was located at the butt of the rifle at that time and which I criticized in the wits program then.

I heard there's a newer version (br 18) which has improved functions over the sar21.

I used all in live firing and outfield. Even section movement live firing in jungle.

Never used before then don't comment. This thread not for you.

As plainly on assault
i think i prefer SAR21
It has a scope sight and provides IR

On movement, hands down for the M16
This weapon you take and go everywhere.
Reach objective and jus go on to fight.

Both i had scored marksman. SAR21 much easier to obtain it.
Both are good to be fair
But because I am 84mm infantry, I prefer M16 for obvious reasons.

Sar21 once zeroed, it is deadly accurate up to 200m.

When shooting 300m, the 5.56mm will be funky a little bit 😏.

Above is my humble experience be it outdoor or indoor range or overseas

sar21 is not a bad rifle but we have to note sg gov wasted a lot of tax payer money to create a sg rifle. we are really a v small country with a very small army.

ar15/m16 is a hardy battle tested weapon and there are many versions which can suit our use.

I used M6 during NS. My son told me SAR21 is not for left handed folks because the dust cover is on the right side of the butt.. Both of us are left handed and our master eye is on the left.
M16 dust cover also right side but can use reflector thats why really pek cek when use SAR21.

So moi enlisted on 2011... :(

During BMT and medic school, we use SAR21 to train... :(

Very good gun, short short so easy to move around, then got scope so very easy to shoot... :(

Some more charging handle by the side so easy to pull... :(

Then moi got posted to Air Force and we are forced to use M16 because we are considered rear units... :(

The M16 so long move around so mafan... :(

Then the iron sight so jialat so hard to shoot... :(

Charging handle also at the back which make it hard to pull... :(

But why so many old bird said M16 better? Is it nostalgia? :(
ability to shoot with either left or right hand is important for urban warfare

allow soldier to shoot around corner of a building without exposing your body

conventional rifle like m16 can do that

bullpup rifle like sar21, can only shoot with 1 side

sar21 is shorter, the centre of the weight is tuck closer to the body so it's more ergonomic even if it is abit heavier.

The heavy magazine also closer to the body

Dunno leh, i handle different small arms at different time one.
Only never shoot rocket, fire howitzer, fire 40mm agl, fire minigun, left disappointed
Think I’ve fired everything you can find in a rifle platoon, from sharpshooter to LAW (curry powder).
