That's why only buy laptop with next business day onsite and maximum of 1 week resolution with loan if more than that.. I think only ThinkPad is offering this. ThinkPad not ideapad
I am deliberating between the ASUS FX553 and HP Pavilion 15 as they both feature the mid-tier GTX 1050 GPU. Both models share comparable specs and price points, but I am leaning towards ASUS as I've read reviews about the poor display quality on the Pavilion 15, e.g. dim display with washed out colours. Can anyone corroborate this? Thanks!
You can take a look at the display quality for the HP Pavilion 15 from this review:
It's definitely better than the Dell 7567 (refer to the video review above) but no comparisons yet between it and the Asus FX553. You have to personally check both out and see which display you prefer.

I don't know whether you have gone to the Dell showroom in Plaza Singapura to check out the Dell 7567 demo set. If you had gone there, you would have seen that the display is horrible.
But if you can live with all the shortcomings that I pointed out, then it's ok
For me, the advantages of the HP screen mentioned in the video review outweigh the slower refresh rate
Hi, I've tried my friend's FX553 and the colours aren't anything special. The viewing angles also not say very good. I'd rather you go for the HP as it has better battery life and 4GB more RAM (if you're buying from roadshow that is) By the way he says the battery life is horrendous, 3-3.5 hours, no gaming.
Absolutely. I'd pick an IPS screen over a TN panel for sure. However, I'd still like to assess both the FX553 and Pavilion 15 displays to see how they match up.

Yes I would too but I took the Inspiron because of its huge 74whr battery and because of the amount of reviewers that complimented its battery life. If I'm unhappy with the display I can just swap it out with an 80SGD 15.6" aft market display.
I believe that it's more essential to have a higher battery capacity as we are using it for poly and will always be on the go. I would've taken the Y520 if I was just looking for a laptop for home usage.
Dell's 74Wh battery and flaming red chassis are tempting options but I'd still choose the Asus, everything else considered. I don't require screens with amazing colour accuracies, but it must have a decent viewing angle and contrast ratio at the very least. Besides, the FX553 is a a cheaper option if you were compare the two, spec for spec.
YA BUT THEN I HAVE TO MATCH MY SETUP'S RED BLACK THEME HAHA decisions man, decisions. the Dell's display can be replaced easily though. and I got an offer from the Dell rep I couldn't say no to. will update the thread on how sh*tty the display is.
Hmm, how much more do you have to fork out if you choose to replace 7567's display? I am also reading confusing specs with regard to the FX553's screen. Some claim it's only a TN panel, whereas other sites claim otherwise. I suppose I will let my eyes decide during the roadshow.![]()
around 80 sgd, its a screen by AU Optronics from an ebay seller with 99.4% positive reviews and I highly doubt it's an IPS from what I've seen. Even if it's IPS it probably is quite a low quality one bc the viewing angles aren't too good considering apart from lifelike color reproduction, it's the niche feature on an IPS. Really, really doubt it is an IPS. If I came across this thread earlier I could've sent pictures or took a video lmao.
