I have a brand new rMBP 15" less than 1 week old. I do see some display issues and sometimes hang without the loading ball and with some distortions on the graphic display when hang. I am not sure is it because of Yosemite or it came like this. I am doing a fresh install...hope its Yosemite....

If possible, please take photos/videos of the issue after a clean install. looks like a hardware issue, I'll definitely pursue a replacement.

I had the same problem from released till last week, but it seems to have resolved itself somehow.

Now running fine.

Keep trying daily.

Gonna try to download using wired connection instead of wireless. Heard that helps too. Keeping fingers crossed

when you download, does the downloading progress bar shows or it just changed to downloaded ?
it download as per normal. slowly and steadily...

EDIT: After umpteen times, finally installed.
still dont get why got such problems. did for 2 MBPs and 1 MBA. all got same problem. using same home network. perhaps its due to my network speed?

Just got my wife a mb pro retina. Should I proceed to upgrade to yosemite?

in my opinion you should, if only you are not using the router asus ac87u for the moment. ASUS has confirmed some incompatibility issues between their chipset and apple airport for the moment.

10.10 is the OS X you are upgrading to, however do ensure that you check for updates again at app store to upgrade the os to 10.10.1

10.10.1 should solve wirelessly issues, but there are some people also experiencing poor performance as well.

These are just some pointers which i think you might wanna consider before upgrading.. :)

took the plunge to wipe out my mavericks on the mid 2012 mba and clean install yosemite. everything works out fine.

applied monolingual, deleted iTunes, ibooks, maps, mail, wallpapers and other unneeded apps and found the new OS X only occupies 9+ GB of storage. :)

Only problem with clean install is I have to redo my Boot Camp and reinstall my Win 8.1 AND all my games.

Will probably wait for things to stabilise a bit before I do an upgrade. Hopefully its ok. :o

I noticed ...now start and shut down is slow a bit ..than the previous OSX which is fast~

Yeah it's slightly slower than OS X Mavericks but not much different with SSD.

I would expect it to be slower with all the graphics enhancement in the OS X Yosemite GUI
