i upgraded from 7 to 8 .
den i want to clean install instead.
i download the iso and burn to dvd.
put in side my dvd,
didnt have the "press any key to boot from dvd..."

straight away go into windows 8 ...

weird!

This is because you didn't set your first boot drive as your DVD drive. As such it simply didn't bother checking if there's a bootable DVD and booted to Win 8 since your hard drive is on first priority in the boot list.

I did a clean install but when I was dual booting the preview version I could open Win 7 programs while using Win 8 for the most part.

When you dual boot do you have to reinstall office again? Will it clash with the already in win7 version

Not too sure about Office specifically but I could run other programs just fine, I would think Office should work too. Although for stuff like browsers the history and bookmarks weren't carried over (by default anyway). Again, that was the preview version, but it should also work now.

Do you did a custom setup not a upgrade and most programs work without the need to reinstall?
Sienz. My office 2010 doesn't seem to work, currently installed in win 7 OS in dual boot. May have to install one more copy in win 8 unless some bros here got solution for "Currently system is not configured to run this program" error msg.

I created a new partition and installed Win 8 on it, and opened the programs on my Win 7 drive directly. Maybe it's just Office. :/

File History should be able to do that. Search for it under Settings or Control Panel. Although: File History only saves copies of files that are in your libraries, contacts, favourites, Microsoft SkyDrive and your desktop. If you have files or folders elsewhere that you want backed up, you can add them to one of your existing libraries or create a new library.

tks alot, it really work like mirroring

Hey guys, I recently upgraded my Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8. First thing I noticed when I started up the computer the next day, the Kaspersky Anti-Virus software I just bought (installed in the windows 7 previously) would not work. It prompted me to install the latest version, but the link they provided was of no use. Next was the cFossspeed program that came with my mobo, and the xfastusb program. Both were not compatible with windows 8. What I'm really worried now about, is if my antivirus was gone for good? I paid for that, and only used it for a few weeks before I upgraded to Windows 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I only encountered 2 problems after a clean install upgrade to Win 8 Pro.
1) My wireless logitech keyboard K750 @ & " key become opposite.
Keyboard still under warranty so will be bringing down for 1 for 1 exchange
according to what the technician over there that I had spoken.

2) My Starhub Motorola Cable Modem connected through the ethnet always
once a while prompting error on usb connection.
Problem still exist but small issue. Trying to update my driver..........:)

Other than that, the system overall is very fast.

Ok i try to help you

1) First of all check if your ENG language is in UK, change it to US and see if the keys are fine.

2) Even if you reboot your modem, still got error?

Thanks a lot. The first one is solved. Now no need to go down & change keyboard already.....................:s12:

The 2nd one, it's the cable modem. It's working ok but once a while there will be notification on the right bottom alerting that the usb device is not recognise. I had rebooted the modern a few times but still in vain. The device manager appearing this device as "unknown". I tried to download the driver but was not able to do so. I had uninstall the driver now, uninstalled the unknown device at device manager & see does it work or not.

Still cannot........................:(

the problem is with the instability with usb.

even if you have no router, you can connect the modem to your laptop by the ethernet port, reconfigure your dialer, that will solve all your problem.

Usb is not stable enough for network connection.

Most 3rd party anti virus programs have not been updated to work with Win 8. Running them may cause multiple errors. I'm sorry it was a new purchase but the reality is until updated it won't run well on Win 8. Win 8's built in security is sufficient as well (in most cases, with user discretion).

Hit Win+E. Also explain your issue.
