Girls are more sensitive when it comes to diamond...lol

Sent from 牛奶车 using GAGT

Actually, the only time you can tell the difference is when you place D and G side by side.

When you wearing it daily, it will look white as there's nothing to compare to.

Choosing D is still better than buying VVS though, as its impossible to tell VVS from SI1 (Westerners actually go for eye clean SI3 to get more bang for buck)

Here are some reference links... first link scroll down and you will see the price of a solasfera D, VS1/2 (which is a fairer comparison since it is also a special cut)

Sometimes, maybe it is better not to know... haha.

My guess would be a 2k mark-up.

I think it is normal to fret, even after all my research and having paid a deposit to JP, I still worried about my choice.

In the end, just treat it as fate that the stone found you... lol.

Someone talked about the brilliant rose before.

From my understanding, the polish/symmetry for the brilliant rose usually very good/very good or good/good.. its seldom excellent/excellent.

To sum things up, the
brilliant rose - 66 facets, no hearts and arrows
destinee royale - 81 facets, 10 hearts and arrows
solasfera - 91 facets, 10 hearts and arrows

It's a pity that the brilliant rose and destinee royale don't have the Ideal and ASET scope to compare the light performance... cos sometimes the shops put the diamond under the strong spotlight, which can be quite biased..

Found the gemex report of the brilliant rose aka leo diamond
gemexposition.jpg

Leo Schachter Diamonds – 4 generations of master diamond artisans handcraft the world’s most brilliant diamond.

compared with the solasfera
which scores the highest for all three points
GEMEXsolas.jpg

You can see the performance of the solasfera compared to other diamonds here.. but one thing about hearts and arrows diamonds is you can see the arrows burning in the diamond.. for the modified rounds with no hearts and arrows, i find their sparkles to be smaller and abit messier..

Don't forget, when a diamond hits 0.7ct, it take a price premium too...

Hi guys,

would you go for a

1. 0.4x, maybe D/E colour, VVS1/2

or

2. 0.5x F/G colour, VS1/2

Any advice?

Just seen the launch of Soo Kee Allove diamond., with 10 hearts and arrows which is similar to JP's Solesfera.

How do you think it compares to the solasfera? I haven't seen allove in person, but the generic diamond images for allove look pretty much like the solasfera with the 10 arrows and 10 hearts.

I bought a D vs2 diamond, I can't really see any inclusion even with a 10x loupe. Colour wise, at some stores, the difference between a D and G is quite obvious to me, yet at Jann Paul, i could hardly see the difference. Not sure if it is due to the better cut or the store lighting. However, when put beside an eternity band, it seems that the melees look whiter than my D color diamond even. Therefore, i suggest if you are going for a lower color, it is best not to have any side diamonds. But given these 2 options, personally I will go for 1 if the both prices are still within budget. You can't get a perfect carat size but you can get a perfect color ;)

How much do you all think the below diamond should cost? My FW seems to feel that I have overpaid for it. :(

anyway, i got a quick question about JannPaul,

does anybody feel the prices feel a little all over the place?
Without seeing the actual diamonds, I somewhat felt that the quotes i get seemed a little higher than those posted by forumers previously. My 0.60 VS1 diamonds are quoted close around 5900... Any thought if this is worth it?

Not sure if there is some discrimination around. Feeling skeptical when prices seem less transparent...

actually I do. I look at the prices quoted in the forum, and i feel that somehow the quotes I gotten are a bit higher as well. But i do not have all the information with me since all emails go to my SO.

Previously I got quoted $5250 for a 0.51c SI, VVS1, D colour. Is this okay, or too high?

My 0.61 VS1 E was $5950. It was about $200-$300 increase compared to the quote I gotten in June 2015. They mentioned its cause of the usd rate or something.

Solasfera is a different category already. It's has a lot more faceting (91) than the normal rounds (57). If you compare it with the Brilliant rose which has 66 facets, someone bought a 0.53 ct d color vs1 @ 7.6k already. If I'm not wrong, the Solasfera should still be priced much lower than that.
