It is a Round Brilliant diamond. Abt 500 for the white gold ring. The HCA score of 1.3 was computed by JP and myself and he provided the three images (H&A, Ideal, Aset) which, to my untrained eyes, looked extremely symmetrical (JP taught me well on what to look out for).

That means 3.5k for your rock alone, should be quite alright to me. You can't get this price at Lee Hwa.

Do also factor in the significant price jump at those golden numbers, e.g. 0.5ct and 1.0ct.

And I think your friend might have only shopped for diamonds at SK, Taka etc. You seriously need to learn more about Cut and the 4Cs as a whole. Local stores I see only advertise the other 3Cs.

I think so too..Just look at the newspapers today and you'd see that 1ct diamonds are going from 4k at Soo Kee's warehouse sale. I have a shrewd suspicion that the quality is not there.

I saw the diamonds at Taka also - 1.01ct, F VVS1 retailing for about 15k and another one 1.01ct D IF for about 26k. But both are really very ugly - No sparkle at all, and definitely no "wow" factor. I think U get what you pay for.....And if u think it is too good to be true, it probably is....

lyong0008: Think about there I guess.. ideal brilliant rounds hearts and arrows are 57 facets.

I went Soo Kee ask on their Brilliant Rose which is 66 facets without hearts and arrows, a 0.5carat would cost me excess 8k. I got myself a Solasfera 10 hearts/arrows (91 facets) for about 3k less.

Furthermore, diamond prices has shot up, so you can't compare prices of peeps who buy in the past years. No choice if you have to buy within this period.

MY RING IS READY

Just receive SMS from JP yesterday that my ring is ready for collection. Faster than what they promise... will need to find time to collect from them. The only problem for JP is that their operating hour is normal office hour, for those people that are working really have to take break or leave to visit them. Anyway, will try to make some excuse from my company and go out to collect!!!

Excited to see the ring...

If you have the time, you might want to consider making origami roses :)
Saves you $$, but need lots of hard work...

You can try collecting during you lunch breaks.. that's what I did... quickly take MRT to Orchard, collect ring, grab a quick bite... the ring collection is quite fast. As long as the MRT doesn't breakdown again, you can make it back in time :s13:

My office at boon lay... from boon lay to orchard... i dont think i can make it on time. Will have to find other way to do it...

during collection, anything i need to get from them other than the certificates. Will they let me check under the scope for the diamond serial number as well?

Hi guys, first post but was looking through the threads.

I got a quote from JP for a 0.51ct, brilliant round (F, VS2, HCA 1.2) and he quoted me ~4K. But my colleagues kept telling me I "tio chop" leh... =(

Can a diamond with my specs (which I consider to be modest) be really worth 4K?

when was the last time your colleague went to see diamond prices? years ago?

if you're talking about current prices, i believe 4K for a 0.51 is considered affordable as compared to those at retail stores of the same quality as JP.

take a day off bah.. some things are more important than working..

They will show you the diamond (mounted on ring), the cert, the box?
They will get you to check if the diamond is alright and same as the one you saw and bought the 1st time you laid eyes on it. Viewable naked eye and scope.

I am agree with other people here, don't listen to what your friend say...

check online for some guideline on the similar spec price...
please don't expect JP price is cheaper than online price... their price is not cheaper but will be slightly more expensive. For me, i choose to purchase from JP than online and don't mind paying few hundred more because of the immediate service that you can receive.

Talking about resizing of ring, repolishing and etc... sending back to the online retailer, i think you have to pay for the postage and insurance. at the same time, don't forget all your online purchase are before gst, when the good come in to singapore you need to pay 7% gst. And all JP price is inclusive of gst.

last thing, buying locally in store you can view the actual diamond and see how brilliant is the diamond... buying from online is only looking at paper certificate only.

I agree you can get something at 0.5c with lower price than $4k... have a look for the diamond that they offer... see any difference between them.

ask normal jewerly shop off the spot light! from there i think you can see more...
:)

above just my opinion.
