It seems to be that JP is over-hyped.

i think it depends on how you look at it. they offer better value than the big names. but if you do your own research and spend your time looking at things, yes you can get a better deal at some of the many small jewellers that dot the island.

its just like getting, lets say, Fuwell to assemble your computer. It certainly is better value than the big name brands like Acer/HP but if you do know how to assemble it yourself, then you can get better value.

+1. Gotta experience it firsthand. I call those retail brands with big marketing and advertising overhyped. I dun see JP doing commercials nor do I see flyers distributed. They have been depending on word of mouth, online exposure etc.

They know what they are selling.
They educate you on what you are buying.
They respond to your enquiries promptly, politely and amiably.

I'd willingly pay for their service even if I'm not buying. This is the kind of thing that needs to be hyped. :D

Edit: and oh i hope i fixed the images in my previous post. hope u guys can see them and give me some feedback!! :)

I have been visiting them once with my wife without making any appointment. We were quite lucky as there was no customer during that time and we were served by Casey. Casey had done a good job in the tutorial session.

Actually we just went there to have a look at their signature Super Ideal diamond without any buying intention. We have no idea how a Super Ideal diamond look like and we would like to see if there was any visual difference compare to my wife GIA 3EX engagement ring. Frankly speaking i can't actually see any difference with naked eye but my wife did. She claimed that JP's Super Ideal looks whiter and more shining than her GIA 3EX even both are E color. Perhaps this is the time for me to upgrade her ring.

I undertsand that Whiteflash, Brian Gavin & GOG are 3 of the top Super Ideal online jeweller from US. Any idea how is actually their price compared to JP. Any idea if there are jewellers in Singapore selling Super Ideal diamonds besides JP?

vivo diamonds or lovida?

Becareful of who says what are super ideal diamonds.
Lovida says they sell it but when I went down, their diamonds were less than ideal.. and they even pushed me to buy un-certified diamonds.
E-clarity will tell you super ideal is nonsense.

I must commend them on their patience and service. They seem to be the only people who are willing to educate their customers. In my appointment, I learnt so much about diamonds, that I feel like a diamond expert myself now =:p

Even after I collected my ring, I still do email them questions about the newer diamond cuts and they still bother to reply me.

What about Vivo diamond? I went through their website but seems like all their Signature Super Ideal are sold out.

I noticed Lovida have their Super Ideal in their online list, are you saying all of them are just normal GIA 3EX. By the way, did Lovida provide Aset & Ideal scope for customer to view the diamonds?

Hi Sweetthinker,

I have seen their Brellia. Breliia is nice but it looks a lot smaller when compared to Super Ideal of the same carat weight.

Brellia is on its own category :s12: if you are asking if the light performance & sysmmetry is good, then yes.

what does your missus want? :s12:

Thank you for your reply. The missus has always been into cushion cut with halo and side diamonds. The one at JP is quite impressive. Do you think it is worth the quoted price?

Lovida only provide the scopes if you ask for it. But after seeing the diamonds with the scopes, it paints a different picture. Vivo diamond provides the scopes too. When I was there, they have very few diamonds to show.. cos they do consignment goods like blue nile. I was showed their signature ideal which is supposedly their super ideal, but none of them looked perfect. Some had dugged girdles and uneven hearts. People from other forums have complained about this too.. So I don't think I'm the only one who noticed this or am fussy.

I think what some places are doing is claiming they have Super Ideal diamonds. But if they fail to convince you that it is a Super Ideal, they'll persuade you to buy something else like uncertified diamonds.. Thats the feeling I'm getting..

I've already wasted $8.6k on a Tiffany ring.. I don't want to waste more money. In the end, I was deciding between JP Super Ideal and Whiteflash ACA. But with all the discrepancy I experienced in other jewelry shops, I wanted to see the diamond myself to be sure. With JP, at least I got to see the diamond. After calculating the price of the diamond from Whiteflash with all the exchange rate, shipping and tax, it comes up to be about the same as JP anyway. So might as well get it from them.

If you are going online, ensure that you are able to view the various scopes. Their super ideal diamonds normally come with IDEAL, ASET and H&A views. This would be useful in making the valuations. However, the very good ones of the super ideal do get snapped up very quickly. You would need to make fast moves on them if you see something you good and is available.
