sorry hijack this thread abit i am trying to get a ring for birthday present budget around 1k, will jannpaul entertain me? or is there any recommendation ?? Thank in advance

Ofcourse and most of the shops will entertain you.

But you don't need to go that far, I went to Tampines Mall, Centre Point, this weekend, most of the jewelry shops got "weekend sale" just passing by and checking the price, some of their 14K ring with stone (I havent check the clarity and color details and size) are 700-1,200. One comparison that Ive made is a .50ct G VSx solitaire ring 18K WG from GoldHeart and it is about 3.2K-3.6K. and another one .30ct G VSx 1.8K-2.2K 18K WG.

I would like to write a review on JP, following my first time purchase of a diamond ring. Prior to visiting JP, I have gone to a few other retail jewellers eg Lee Hwa and Soo Kee, and viewed their top range diamonds (destinee royale and brilliant rose).

My girlfriend and I first visited them three weekends ago, and we were given a very detailed tutorial session on the 4Cs by Sam, one of the staff in JP's team. My personal experience was that the retail jewellers tend to focus on 3Cs (carat size, clarity, and colour) and promoting their exclusive range of diamonds, while leaving out the fourth and very important C, which is the cut. Sam patiently explained on the important of the cut, and also analyzing through the various scopes.

When it came to the selection of the diamonds, I was first shown a super ideal cut, and this diamond alone surpassed most of the others which I have seen in the jewelry stores. It seemed so much brighter and reflected light better. The contrast between the bright and dark portions was very distinct.

Of course, some of you may think that it is probably due to the lighting effects of the store. I'm sure the diamond comparison videos in JP's Youtube channel will be able to demonstrate this very well under different controlled lighting environment.

Like many others here in this forum, I eventually decided on a Solasfera, which is scientifically proven to excel highly in brilliance, fire and scintillation. After reading so much about the Solasfera, I was able to view this amazing piece of diamond in person. Jann attended to us on our subsequent appointment, where we chose the settings of the ring. With his advice, we eventually decided on a modified version of the six-prong setting.

JP's service has been excellent throughout the three sessions which we had. There was no pressure and "additional encouragement" on our selection of diamond and setting. And when we had questions, both Sam and Jann would patiently offer their advice and explanation, address our concerns and accommodate our additional requests. We would definitely consider them when we want to get our wedding bands!

Despite the recent ongoing concerns here, I would say to potential ring buyers not to let it deter you from going to JP. Visit the retail stores first, and then make JP your final stop. You will be amazed by what they can share with you, and the types of premium diamonds they have to offer.

Hi,

It's better to give them a call to clear your mind on the type of the diamond that you have purchased, as most of the people suggested here, it would be a super ideal round H&A.

From your selected diamond, if it has 8 arrows/heart then its their super ideal, their solasfera have 10 arrows/heart and ofcourse cushion brellia have cushion shape like. :)

Thanks for all your replies. I have clarified with JP and indeed, my purchased diamond is the super ideal cut. :)

Just found out that my last post was deleted. Why would hwz delete my post? Someone must have reported because my post was not so pleasant. :(

The diamond is still missing.

Jann could you please reply to my sms or PM me. Thanks.

I understand that there has been some controversy concerning JannPaul lately.

Let me add my 2 cents.

Whether the concerns/controversies posted by others are valid or not, true or not, I do not know. However, I would take it with a grain of salt as this after all is cyberspace.

For those who have gone down to JannPaul, bought from them, and listened to their lecture, we have verified for ourselves with our own eyes that their diamonds are of a higher quality than other vendors because of their stringent filtering process which they use so as to give us only those few choices which are already diamonds of an exceptional quality.

To be clear, I have bought a Solasfera from them before without any regrets.

Is JannPaul infallible? I am not saying they are.

I will however say that, IMHO, they offer high quality diamonds that are value for money and are worth a look by anyone in the market for a diamond.

The internet is a good source of knowledge when you are searching for a diamond - up to a certain point. Example, tell you which shops to avoid. But, nothing beats going down and seeing for yourselves with your own eyes first.

Perhaps it would be best if you emailed them directly rather than post in HWZ.

Hmm guys need your opinion, I have been quoted the following:

$8300: 0.77C, E VS2, Super Ideal (no Ring Setting)

Why the big discrepancy with the above stone?

$7100: 0.76C, G VS1, Super Ideal

Do you guys think its worth it to go for the 0.77?

Friend, the more expensive one is an E color (colorless), while the other is a G color (not truly colorless). That is 2 grades color difference. Not just 1.

Pick the one which looks better to your eyes and is of course within your budget.

Had my appointment this afternoon at JP and made the following purchase :-

0.591c, Color F, VS2
Cost : 3600 + 550 basic settings

Is the price reasonable?

There was no mention that this is the super ideal diamond series throughout the entire session but i did brought up the topic on the Solasfera and Cushion Brellia seriies. Had the chance to check out the Cushion Brellia via the various scopes as well.

Now my question is - how do i verify that my purchase is the super ideal diamond (or something else)?

The AGS report indicated a cut scale of 0 (ideal) and we checked through the various scopes (looking at the symmetry / balance of the hearts and arrows, etc) for my selected diamond as well.

Sorry if this sounds like a noob question. :)

You got urself a good deal since its a super ideal cut. I paid $3900 for a 0.51ct E VS2 diamond at JP recently.

Dont know why there is such a big diff in the pricing...

Hi all, as said, since mods decided to ignore, will post Paul's PM here as 2 others interested parties has asked me about the reply. Have a feeling it might be deleted? If it does get deleted, will bring this up with :vijayadmin:.

I've received a long reply from Paul, I think some others may have received it as well. You may wish to post it instead.

But let's give the mods, sunsetbay and Lancelot, a chance to clear things up before I posted Paul's reply here. If not may request other senior mods to clarify.

I wished to clarify here that I was never a customer of JannPaul, nor in any way affiliated to them. I just happen to get some very nice suggestions and advice from them when I was sourcing for a proposal ring for my wife more than 2 years ago. It's hard to get that kind of top notch quality & services in Singapore that's why the many good recommendations to them here, not surprising I say.

Though this forums have not been kind or receptive to other brands. I think choices are what people need. Not everyone would want or could afford to go for the top quality diamonds, they may have brand preferences as well. Preciously the reason why people buy brand car like Ferrari, is it the fastest? nope. Is it the most beautiful car ever built? Well to each his own, I suppose. The same goes for diamond purchases. What I feel is that don't impose your view of what a diamond should be onto others, which I may have been guilty of doing as well. Cheers!

I guess everybody is waiting for the truth to be out yet the mods are still keeping quiet about it. Why not be transparent and let everybody know what happen? I think everybody have waited long enough. It's time to shed some light.

I have a hypothetical question, what if a mod started a diamond business, out to ruin JP's name and want to shut them up?

Good clarification by JP and effort on their part as a respected company.
