hi guys, just came back from JP, deciding between 0.8+ range or 0.9+ range....both are G, VS1-VS2 range...but the jump seems to be substantial for 0.9+ range...0.8+ around 8k+ but 0.9+ range 11k+....both are super ideal...

A 3k jump seems to be quite steep indeed. Is the 0.8+c in the lower range (0.81-0.82), while the 0.9+c in the higher range?

its a 0.87 vs 0.95...

Given that both are in the G, VS1-VS2 range, I would think the 0.87 is more value-for-money. The difference in carat is quite substantial, but I wouldn't top up 3k for that.

Of course, if budget is not a concern, go for the bigger one :s13:

hi all,

went to JP weeks back, was quoted 8.2k for this round diamond.
Diamond type: Super Ideal Cut
0.75 D VS2

wanted to do a side diamonds setting, which is about an additional 1k.

am looking for something in the range from 0.7x to lower 0.8x carat.
was advise that for similar specs, the 0.80 would be around 10k, and the price increase it not really worth it for the increase in carat, as you cant really tell the diff.

opinion on the price for the 0.75 and the difference in sizes?
i have a budget which is around 9-10k

i actually have the 3D render and the scope images, i'll post it when i figure out how to attach images. seems to be more green with the aset than what i've seen here.

Maybe try to drop the colour and see if you can go beyond 0.75? 10k for a 0.8 carat diamond doesn't seem to really justify itself.

Don't think it's worth it to go for beyond 0.8 carat due to the price jump.

Going for halo / side diamonds setting will be better as it can make the diamond appear larger.

Was notified last week that the ring was ready but alas! The ring design was not according to the specification. Got to wait for another few weeks for the redo. :(:(:(

Nope... back then the husband didn't know much about diamonds and bought from Soo Kee. They didn't teach him about the scopes and stuff. Then for my upgrade, I went to do my own research :s13:

Photo is abit hard to see, but the difference in the shine is very obvious especially when I compared them outdoors. I borrowed their Ideal scope to play on my ring and could see it have alot of light leakages :( Last time I thought that's how diamonds was suppose to look like and accepted it. But now I know..

My Octagon is a 0.56 carat. With my custom setting everything in was 5k+. I'll be going back to them this weekend to clean my ring. Vince told me they can clean my ring any time when I'm in Orchard.. hehe

I see, can I know more about the specs of the octagon? Am thinking if I should go for octagon for my next upgrade or go for a bigger carat super ideal.

Need some advice ^^

Hello!

I've been reading this tread a lot. Went down to JP twice (first visit was a total disaster) but decided to give them a chance and went down again. The SA quoted me a few, and I was wondering if you guys could give me advice...

Ideal Cut
A) 0.71 E VS2 - $7000 (HCA 1.3)
GIA 2171248153
B) 0.77 D VS2 - $8,000

Super Ideal Cut
C) 0.73 G VS1 - $7200
D) 0.71 E VS1 - $7500 (HCA 1.4)

To be honest the Ideal 0.77 was v liang and we couldn't tell the difference between that and a super ideal. We didn't get to see the scopes for the .77 as it is a tad out of budget and I didn't want my heart to break if I cannot get it haha.

The scopes for diamond A had quite a bit of greens and blues :( that's why I guess it's ideal and not super ideal. But by the naked eye in the shop i couldn't tell any difference hence still considering it.

Next option is to get diamond D, but a bit worried about the hca score being so high? Asked the SA and he said it's alright as it is still within range. The scopes looked OK as well but just concerned la :s22:

Hope to get some advise from all you diamond masters!! Thanks in advance!!

Why not option C? Cheap, big and super ideal. G colour is still colourless.

HCA, if it's below 1.8.. doesn't really matter as it's only a filter.. the scopes are the ones that matter.

Almost forgot about it because I was so focused on the .77 hahaha. I guess because I'm afraid of the G colour...I could tell the difference between E and F (although only when they are placed side by side).

I shall ask to see the G next to the E in this case :p

Oh I also read in the past few pages that the tinge of yellow can be "masked" if set on a 6 prong...is that true?
