Hi all, this 1.01 F VS1 is going for 11k (including ring setting), but the HCA doesn’t look too good any experts here can advise if its worth it pls? Im still waiting to see the scopes. Or should I pay the premium for JP SIC. With 11k i can get prob ~0.8 carat?

Thanks in advance! :)

That’s a steep deep diamond, no brainer to reject it, you dont even need to see the scopes to know there's gonna a big centre table dead ring.

Ouch no... besides the horrible proportions and being a steep deep, 1.01 can almost guarantee cheated girdles. (dugged/painted). The cutter cut it to really try to make past the 1ct mark for the sake of profit, it's like one of the oldest tricks in the book. It’s gonna look like poop.

Hi all, after reading this thread for so long, finally made my first appointment at JP and settled for this. Do you think I made the right choice? Thank you!

Personally, no.
I would not trade cut for high color n clarity
Thanks Miltah! May I know what to look out for to know that the cut is not good? Because for example the diamond I chose looks okay to me :( need your help!

I’m sure it looks ok but for the price, u can get a SIC
If u getting an ideal cut, then go for a bigger caret with F/G color and VS clarity grade

Are these pics taken with the iphone11? That looks like a SIC. It's v difficult to align it properly. If you took urself, it looks symmetrical on the ideal but you shifted the camera on the hearts and aset.

You can tell from the aset you tilted the phone more to the right.... On the hearts, you took it more to the bottom. Hence the discoloration and multiple tail reflections on the bottom of the heart's V. When you use the magnification function on the camera, it will make the heart's V have that split effect. It's more on the camera issue rather than the diamond. Its not possible for a diamond to have those splitting Vs.

When I use my iphone11 to make my scopes and Eugene used his iphone 10, it comes up with these same problems. You need to keep pressing the centre focus to align it properly while making sure its not shifted.

Yup its an SIC. And you are absolutely spot on. I'm using an iphone 11 and I noticed the phone was indeed a little bit tilted to the right when the diamond specialist was helping me take the photo. Thank you on the tips!

Will be making another trip to look at more diamonds. :)

Its a SIC but you're right, will drop clarity and colour. Unfortunately, stocks are very low now and most of them are G colour. Is G colour worth considering in your opinion? Thank you!

Your diamond on the ASET is tilted to the north west. You can tell from the star facets and shift in the arrows. But more likely your camera is not centralized and shifted to the right. Those multiple V in the hearts does not exist. This is a camera problem when you zoom on the phone. I have my own Ideal and ASET scope set I bought online and experienced the same.

This is how the hearts and arrows are formed. Like Chesterchew said, its not possible to have multiple reflections like that.

I was given the choice from JP

0.42Ct F VVS2 Super ideal for $2700 and
0.42 Ct E VVS1 Super ideal for $2900

Which will you guys pick? Didnt want to upsize the carat as the finger size measure at JP is 6. Tried 0.63Ct and it looks huge.

For $200 more to get a higher color and clarity, I think its quite worth it if budget allows.
Yeah, go for something that looks best on her finger. Size 6 is damn small. The diamond will confirm look bigger on her hand.

I got a E Color myself. Color and clarity is a personal preference. My SO and wife can see the color difference in E and G, and she didnt want to have the yellow tinge at all.

Face up can see the difference but not that obvious since JP's SIC is already cut to the maximum brightness.

But when you see from the side like this, the color will be more obvious.

I got my 1.05 from jp for 12k. Ask for their HOH diamonds and they may find a 1 ct at ur range. But the salesperson did tell me that by right they are not allowed to sell HOH diamonds but he did me a favour

Looks great! Went down again but due to limited stocks it's either at least +1.2k for 0.71ct G VS1 or -700 to drop to 0.56ct F VVS2.

Everything else in the 0.6ct range was either 0.60ct at $5300 or 0.61ct at $5500. Couldn't see any difference between 0.60ct and 0.61ct so personally felt it was not worth it to top up.

Am really surprised to be served by Casey so I'm happy with sticking with my current diamond as per his advice! Looking forward to the ring next month!

I actually feel that a one carat on my gf size 6 finger looked small haha. If you’re happy with 0.4 then that’s good, a lot of extra savings.

Between the 2, I’ll take E if you’re Color sensitive and since it’s just $200 more.
