Actually I'll suggest if you're not urgent, drop your reservation and request for solasfera in the G VS2 range, you'll probably save 500-800 based on your piece and use that money to perhaps push up the size :), VS2 will look exactly the same as VVS2 naked eyes, but I'm pretty sure you can notice a slight different when you convert the money you saved by getting 0.05-0.08~ more :D

Thanks for the suggestion! I was also considering the size with reference to the size of my girlfriend's finger. Was also looking at another 0.52 F VS1 but the inclusions on the face and edges seemed too much for me (was a bit of an eyesore looking at the certificate). Meanwhile, will continue sourcing! :s13:

Don't have to bother about the 'look' of the cert, both of you will properly see it once and stash away for donkey years.

Realistically speaking, her friends will be looking at the ring with naked eyes, which obviously cut and size will be the only thing they notice. Just maximize the size within your budget with G color and VS 2 for the best visual experience.

And also not to worry about the color....to be honest, the only time they can notice a tiny difference in the color is if someone actually put a D/E color ring next to your ring on a side view under a white fluorescent lighting and stare close to it for more than 3 seconds...which i doubt anyone will, because it's plain rude.

Anyway are you sure she will prefer the Solasfera cutting? Initially i thought it was nice too, until i showed it to few of my female friends and even my partner...all of them preferred the super ideal in person as Solasfera in small carat size kinda look 'messy' due to the tinier bling...IMO it'll only look great if you're looking at 1.2 above.

PS: If your partner prefers super ideal, you can further up the size due to the pricing :D...imagine a 0.7 super ideal vs 0.5x Solasfera...the former will probably be more awesome :s22:

You can consider the octagon too. It competes with the solasfera and is just as sparkly but without that 'messy' look. I rem i had a tough time deciding which to choose. lol

At 2:25, that is my octagon diamond :D Waiting for them to craft my ring now

Yup i couldn't really tell the colours apart. But the light return from Solasfera should mask any colour differences. Really not sure about whether she will prefer the Solasfera or Super Ideal but her friend was with me and agreed that the Solasfera does look better with the glimmer. And the Solasfera cut makes the diamond look bigger. Will have to work around the requirements that I have! Still have time to see see look look! :)

Yes! The first time i saw the octagon I was also like WOW! But I sort of mention the different shapes and my girlfriend said that she preferred a round shape, so it was either a Super Ideal or Solasfera!

Really beautiful octagon! haha. Did you get it before they made the video? Looking forward to seeing your ring. What setting did you select? I am still thinking about the design of a simple 6-prong setting without making it too boring.

Hi All!

I've been following this thread for awhile now. Recently I made an appointment with JP and proceeded to purchase a Solasfera. However, after reading this thread again, I'm not sure if I the diamond that I bought was a good buy. I placed a deposit of $500. I'm wondering if I should look into Super Ideal and bump up on the carat size. I can't upload the scopes but these are my diamond specs. 0.6, F, VS1, $5400. Thoughts? Should I give it up for a Super Ideal or just stick to it? I tried asking the sales staff for other quotations but she's taking very long to reply. Will they entertain if I were to drop by again and check out other diamonds?

each cut of diamond is different and has their own plus points, so end of the day I think it is up to personal preference.. the solesfera is like a disco ball with multiple small fires, the round brilliant has lesser but bigger sparkles, the octagon is loved for its unique shape and is something like an inbetween of the solesfera and round brilliant in terms of sparkles, while the brellia is a square shaped diamond. pick the one that you prefer the most, then think of the budget you want to set and which of the Cs do you value more than the others..

i think if you set the parameters it is easier for the salesperson to come up with quotations for diamonds that match your criteria, rather than having an open ended request with no idea where to start. price wise the stone you have sounds about right as the solesfera is priced at a premium over the super ideal due to it having more facets. good luck picking a diamond :)

This price is pretty decent for the specs. My super ideal 0.61E VS1 already cost me $5950. Solasfera similar specs and cheaper then super ideal. Pretty weird but it's a good price.

Yeah that's kind of odd, altho the solasfera is of 1 color level lower, but it should be still be slightly higher than super ideal.

I was quoted 12k~ for 0.95 G VS2 super ideal....the price jump seems to be alot for diamonds above 0.8

Thanks! Yeah, I was impressed by the octagon and they showed it to me in different lights and was totally convinced. haha.

A few weeks after I reserved the diamond, they asked if they could borrow it for a education video as mine happened to be one of the "bigger" diamonds left that was still not set on a ring yet. So I told them they could use it and they shared the video with me later.

The setting I chose is with side diamonds. I'll upload it again when I'm back. Don't have the pics with me now.

Hi guys. Thanks for replying. Still at crossroads of whether to give up the currently diamond. But as of now the salesperson said there aren't any that meets the specs that I'm looking for. ☹️ Will meet up with her tomorrow to discuss again.

well the solesfera stock does seem to fluctuate depending on when you are buying it ( i rmb there was a period in apr where they were low on the solesferas too), could be indication that the cut is popular hahaha.. if you need the diamond urgently the super ideal gives u more options to consider, if not just ask them to inform you when a new shipment of solesferas come in

Friend got his from there. Been there to check out the diamonds before too. Price is around $4.5-5k for around 0.7 carats.

They don't offer the full works like JP meaning no ASET/ideal scope images.
