Confirmed my design with JP :)

Decided it was better to bring my gf down to choose the design. haha. I know its not as romantic but our house keys are coming anyway so she knows its coming :s13: Plus she would get to pick what she really wants.

The side view is going to be the same as this. I really like how you can see the workmanship quality on their rings.

But in 4 prongs with small diamonds like this.. The octagon is really damn sparkly man. It's going to take awhile to get used to the bling.. I don't know if you guys tried taking photos of the diamonds but keeps getting blur from the sparkles.
I requested for the sales staff to tell her the ring will only be ready in 4 months instead of 2 months. So there is still some element of surprise.. and apparently, the sales staff told me this is quite normal and alot of guys do that too.. :s13:

Prices are all about that range for Octagon.

Imho, I think that the 0.568 will be a better deal because its both bigger and better color BUT prices isn't too big of a difference.

Imho option 1

The carat difference in size likely impossible to notice.

F and e cannot see much difference

So option one better bang for your money

i have always preferred to push the color and clarity down to a VS2 F color to free up more budget for carat boost.. personally i feel for the size of the stone a difference between E and F color, or VVS1 vs VS2, wont be visible to the naked eye anw :)

option one gets my vote

Was able to tell the difference in an E and F colour when i was shown but it probably wont be that obvious when it's set on a ring. Furthermore, i think the difference in carat size is too small to tell apart too. Hence, i think the exact $700+ isnt that value-for-money. Wld go for option 1 too

If Going for Option 1 , i can go for better setting with side diamond
If Going for Option 2 , i will do a simpler setting

Going down to JP on Tuesday for my 2nd appointment , headache :s22:

Would vote for option 1 too. The difference in carat and colour wouldn't be obvious at all when it is placed on the settings.

JP does really give fantastic diamond info explanation. really wish to buy from them but i thought i would do some due diligence and compare with at least 1 other vendor.

what is a good shop to go down to take a look? ppl here keep saying JP prices are very competitive so which shops are they referring to?

thanks to everyone for the help!

18k white gold for proposal ring, can consider platinum for wedding band.

price? depends where you get from..

Better just get from them, the price is reasonable since you purchased the diamond from there and there's free design/customization rendering etc

Hi guys, visited JP last week and was quoted for this diamond. Need bros opinion and comments on the scope shots. I find that there are quite a lot of green in the aset scope. Wondering is this a good buy or should I wait for a diamond with better scope since I am not in a hurry. It is a 0.45, F, VVS2.

white gold are yellow-ish to begin with, the white shiny that we see are actually not white gold, it's rhodium.

All white gold are plated with rhodium for that purpose, typically the coating will start to fade and reveal the actual yellow tint white gold in 2 years~ depends how frequent you wash it. if you always wash and shower with it, the life span probably be like 18 months or shorter which then you can chose to re-plate it, i believe Jann Paul provides a free 1 time or 2 times (can't remember) re-plating / polishing. - Usual market price for re-plating/polishing should be less than $50 thereafter.

As for platinum, they are naturally white with a little gray tone and doesn't fade, but personally i would prefer white gold with rhodium plating for proposal ring and platinum for wedding band due to daily wear. (white gold with rhodium does look a little shinier than platinum hence i would prefer this on the proposal ring)
