View all together. Those who say no need this no need that are hiding things from you or just don't know enough.

That's why this thread support JP because JP show you everything, aset, hca, gia, hearts and arrow (if applicable), they even show you the real thing and not only images, make appointment and they got these scope you can view it yourself and judge, the sales assistant will even bring you outside the shop to see how 2 diamonds of different quality look when under sunlight.

That time I bought my wedding band from another shop and I happened to see their engagement ring and MY GOD that diamond is YELLOW to the naked eye, I don't even have to try. Heng already got engagement ring from JP.

True that many shops like to hide things and just quick sell. JP is the only one that takes time to educate the customers on what is a good diamond.

Though many of us bought from JP and will recommend getting diamond from JP, but it is still up to individual spending power and preference.

JP can sell you very high quality diamond, but the price isn't cheap either. Let's say you try to get a 0.8ca super ideal at JP, the same price may net you a 1.0ca with poorer light return at normal jewellers (not those branded/atas ones).

JP always talk about good cut = good light return and you pay the premium. Quoting the above example, the 1.0ca will surely look bigger and chances are it may have better light return just due to the shear size difference. (ie. small but 100% light return may still lose to something bigger but poorer light return)..

Realistically, it's the bling bling that people likes. A diamond is still a diamond and it's the thought and sincerity that count. Marriage is just a start and it's the mutual committment that towards each other that is really important.

Don't really agree on the diamond part, you do know that JP can offer you less-than-ideal diamond at a competitive rate as those normal jewellers? It's just that it's not recommended....and definitely not that they wanna push quality cuts for profits.

one thing I've found out recently is that their staffs are on non-commission based salary, they only hire people who genuinely likes diamond, which is why you don't see them hard selling.

Wow, I didn't know that! No wonder they never push for sales but focus on educating their customers instead. A very well thought of strategy by the boss!

JP only hold super ideal and other signature cuts (was told by the staff). The rest are actually HOH's (yea you can argue it's the same). But during the education they'll show you the super ideal as well.

I certainly didn't want to imply that they employ "hard selling", but it's true that super ideal (or other signature cuts) with maximum light return are being sold a at premium. That is understandable and fair as cut is one of the 4 "C"s.

However, that extra top-up can also get you a bigger diamond which may have better overall light return (due to surface area). Caution though as the light leakages may also cause the bigger diamond to appear dull at times.

Just buy within your means and get a balanced diamond. Do not focus on just one aspect (ie cut or carat). Actually I've seen some bros here also asking/considering super ideal vs a diamond of a bigger carat but not as ideal cut quality.

Haha, it's up to individual I Guess, I would say that JP's Super ideal is cheap (reason being I'm someone who bought brilliant rose and celestial before).

But personally I still think that 'ideal' cut should be the lowest cut standard someone should go for, I've personally seen a lot of 1 carats that's below ideal cut standard and to be honest, the difference is a lot, yes although it's bigger, but I find it less appealing, I would think a 0.7 Super ideal look much better than a 1 carat non ideal cut...but that's my own opinion la, I'm someone who observe diamond a lot naturally hence my expectation is higher haha

Wondering if the bros can help me take a look at the H&A image here (http://m.imgur.com/a/vRAt0). I'm worried about the slightly bigger cleft on the 1 o'clock heart.

Other properties seem fine, and if anyone asks, I had a great experience at JP and price wise it was only less than three hundred more SGD compared to even Brian Gavin's exceptional Black line. I'm pleased.

Super Ideal bro? Can we have the GIA cert/number for further research?

If it is a Super Ideal, trust me, no need to see liao. Confirm plus chop + pork chop + lamb chop good stuff, best quality, creme de la creme light performance. You don't trust me also trust the guys at JannPaul lar bro. They did all the hard work just to make sure their Super Ideals are chosen from only the best cuts.

But seriously, I did not see your so-called slightly bigger cleft no matter how near I put my face on my computer screen. Mind pointing it out for me bro?

Bespoke Jewellers

Thanks for the wise words! Any local bespoke or custom jewellers that you guys can recommend? I see many people here are really into JP but they don't do emeralds and other stones right?

I got my engagement ring from Juliana of Ilya Diamonds. She was featured on CNA recently. She apparently does customized rings / jewelry with other precious stones as well, so you may want to approach her.

With respect to my own engagement ring, like many others here I went down to JP. I had an excellent session at JP with Jerome assisting me, and he gave me a few options which I was really interested in. I decided to go with Juliana in the end, however, as she had a diamond that clicked with me. I must say her service was impeccable and she made the whole ring buying and customization process very fun!

I am very happy my purchase. Will try to post some photos when I get the chance.

I know the confirm+chop guarantee. I also didn't bother to see the ideal cuts too much as I was too happy with the SIC.

What I meant was the gap between the heart and the pointy arrow. It seems larger compared to the rest of the hearts..

Hey guys, intending to get my engagement diamond from bluenile and do the setting at one of the shops here in sgp. Just called JP and they told me that they no longer offer this service, can any Bros here advise where else to go and approx leadtime?

Many many thanks!

Bro, don't say so fast bro. JannPaul, or rather House of Hung, do have those what I call "half-ideal-half-super-ideal" kind of stones lurking around in their inventory. Those are by right Super Ideals, but were demoted to Ideals because they missed out on one Super Ideal requirement, be it the HCA score, one slightly misaligned arrow, etc. These diamonds offer the best bang for your hard-earned buck as they are priced as an Ideal.

How I know? Cuz my friend was lucky and he found such a diamond. It missed out on the HCA score by 0.2 and was categorised and priced as an ideal cut. The JannPaul salesperson compared an outright Super Ideal with this "half-ideal-half-super-ideal" side by side using their GemEx device. Neither him nor us were able to tell which was which.

This is the GemEx device, in case you are wondering.

Ok enough crap. Getting back to your scope images... I don't see any difference in the gaps between the hearts and the arrow heads bro. Your eyes playing tricks on you is it bro? Haha.

They no longer customise settings for stones purchased elsewhere ehh? Wow that's news to me! Did you ask why bro?

After reading pages and pages of good review of Jannpaul by bros here, I finally decided to make an appointment with them in search of a Dream Ring that will make her say Yes! Haha was quoted abt $5.8k for Super Ideal cut, a 0.62 D VS1, let's see how it goes ^^

Yeah man, was quite surprised also because my fren did his there. Didn't ask so much but most probably a business decision la. Quite likely to encourage consumers to get the diamonds from them as well I suppose.

Ah well, have to keep looking. Any suggestions guys?
Or just get the ring as well from bluenile?

Or maybe issues with insurance. The last time I asked, was told that they need to buy insurance for diamonds purchased elsewhere so that they are covered in case the stone cracks or is damaged during setting.

You can try enquiring with Moriya Diamond or Les Precieux, both of which are located in Orchard. They are responsive via email and on Facebook.

I am not sure about Moriya but the reviews on Les Precieux are very good...4.9/5 stars out of 2,100 ratings on Facebook!

think he refering to the 1 o'clock heart, the right red triangle is bigger than the left triangle. But i guess it's just a small symmetry issue that is unlikely to affect the light return much. best for a diamond expert to comment tho.

I'm a very satisfied JP customer as well. Good quality diamonds with good service. However, some who posted here may be tight on budget and may be better off getting just an "normal" ideal cut diamond instead.
