There’s always the ideal cuts from HOH or go the online route

Shortlisted a few online already.
For my budget, only can go with BlueNile Ideal cuts. Can't use the HCA calculator cause i've maxed out the 3 free attempts :s22: No ASET scan, so im also taking a huge bet.

Now I'm just trying to find some shops that can sell a nice empty ring setting separately, and help me set my stone.

BN Ideal cuts is anyhow one. They have the worst “Ideal cut” standards.

Agree lol. Most of their ideal cuts are pretty crappy. :\
But what to do, it's $800 vs $1.1k between BN and WF (before tax).

https://www.bluenile.com/sg/build-your-own-ring/diamond-details/LD11497006

Can see 1 solid crystal at the table, but don't know if it's eye clean.

Versus

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4027002.htm

Bluenile 0.3 E VS2 $800
Whiteflash ACA 0.3 G SI1 $1100
BGD signature 0.31 G VS2 $1066
https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/....318-g-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104104975062-784

Here’s the price difference and what u paying for:

BN; no idea of cut, especially with crown angle at 36. Personally I would prefer 34-35. Not sure if eye clean. No scope images.

Whiteflash; scope provided. In-house gemologist, can request double check eyeclean, can ask additional hand/photo shots.

U can also consider BGD options. If no hurry, u can monitor when they have sale

It’s dependent on the size of the stone. Insurance more ex for a bigger stone than a smaller one. If u want exact cost, just drop them an email on the stone u looking at n estimated cost. If I recall correctly, it’s $50-70usd
Tax is gst 7% loh...

if u want a tip, say you are very interested, tell them u know they have free shipping. U no rush n can wait... or they can throw in free shipping in exchange for a excellent review :)

Ps: u know the name of the person looking after u?

There is very little discrepancy and variation in JP SIC. What’s the color and clarity of your current stone?
U didn’t mention size ( if u want bigger) or budget. I actually upgraded size but downgraded specs to maintain on budget

My current ring is a 0.52 VS1 E. I didnt get it from JP. Back then I didnt know about them. Only after I bought my ring den I did more research cos I found the ring to be very dark when I brought it home. I had no choice but to accept the ring and bought 2 small diamond earrings from JP later.

When I was there, JP lent me the scope to check my ring. It was all green with light leakages :( The store that I bought it from sold it as an Ideal cut. So now that I saved up enough money, Im aiming for the Super ideal cut and 1 carrot.

The BGD one that you linked have feather inclusions leh. Read somewhere that feathers usually not a good sign, as they can cause durability issues. I've filtered out quite a few WF's diamonds because they all have feather inclusions also.

0.308 F VS2

0.317 F VS2

0.313 G VS2

How abt these? All about $1100 excluding gst

It was meant more for u to consider BGD as an option. To stay under $1100 with a colourless range has limited choices.
You can also try searching, u might pick up better ones

Thks for the pict. Good to know.
Will this be your last one u think? Well with JP u could always upgrade within 2yrs and not need to pay re-grading fees.
Reason I’m asking is if u not color sensitive, u could always drop to a G (and or drop to VS2) for the same size but cheaper or at least bigger caret

If you’re very anal on being paper specs - perfection and willing to pay the premium (I’m such a person hence no judgement).

However if you’re more practical, consider looking into their ideal series and not super ideal, can perhaps save u 15% or even get 1.1x for the same pricing and in actual real life performance, you might not even really notice the different between SIC and SI from JP unless you monitor it super closely.

Go get an example for comparison before making a decision, no harm :), don’t just rely on the video online for the comparison, as those are taken zoomed in and not within human nature viewing condition haha.

It depends where the feather are located and usually the risk are more for bigger stones.

I’ll avoid BN’s ideal for sure, no brainer junk, even their BN sig ideal are questionable, going a level below that even just to save 200-300$ makes no sense, you won’t want an awful stone for your special proposal ring.
