I'm also curious why reputable jewellery shop such as SK does not have the GIA certification but go for IGI.

Luckily I only placed a deposit of SGD500.

After much searches on the internet, I am thinking of giving JannPaul a try.

IGI bumps up the grading so that these diamonds will look better so shops that carry them can sell them more than what they are worth. It's the same as how some shops sell diamonds that are certified by themselves which is even worse.

I think you'll be in much safer hands with JP. lol

Just went down to JP and got a 0.6 carat D VVS2 super ideal cut from them! Super stoked! paid 5.8k for the stone only.

Just came back from an appointment at JP, Vince served me, he took out 3 different cuts of diamond for me to choose from,Octagon,Solasfera & cushion brellia.I chose Solasfera.
Here's some videos i took of my diamond i chose. Its a solasfera 0.52ct E VS2.
Vince put the diamond on the back of my gf's left hand to see the scintillation.
He showed us under different types of lightnings:

1)LED
This is the type of lighting used in jewelry shops, which makes the diamond look very sparkly.

P.S : Anyone knows where is a good place to propose to my gf which has
LED lighting ?

2)Fluorescence
This kind of lighting is used to see the color & brightness of the diamond. TBH,i only can see a slight difference between D & E colour.

3)This video is taken inside the shop.

From my own understanding after the appointment, I think it's because of how solasfera is cut, it has 91 facets & 10 symmetrical hearts & arrows.After the whole appointment, my gf keep pestering me on questions on when it'll be ready & whether we can have a request to expedite our whole process of getting the diamond itself but i reminded her that our ROM is still like 3 months away, then that's when she calmed down a little :sweat: My Gf is still very excited to receive the 3d render of our solasfera though !

another alternative is to buy a different ring box with LED lighting that would beam on the ring, allowing it to shine.

yep..for the setting its an additional $550 for the basic one or $1,200 with the side diamond settings.

I stick to the basic one as I will burst my budget if I go for the side diamond option.

just send them an email and they will reply within a few hours. Try asking for a weekend slot.

They will be happy to educate you (1hour +-) and quote you gems with no obligation. You will not be pressurized to buy a gem from them.

you should be able to find one to your liking!

You can always adjust on your cut and clarity and get balance between them.

Imo, I feel that JP has a reasonable pricing for their gems.

Saw the ring from sk new series all love.

0.63 G colour 81 facet 10 arrows 10 hearts.
GemEX certified very high for all 3 category.

Selling at 6.5k with channel casing. Worth buy? Or can get even worth ones at jp?
