i online-chat with the singnet to try to re-contract after 1 year now, and the CSO says it was a 2 years plan!!

"
Dylan : When you signed up, you were offer a 50% discount on your first 12months of the contract.
Dylan : After the first 12 months, it will be reverted back to the original subscription.
"

Now i gotta pay 40+ for 10Mbps.......$%^&*(

anyone in the same shoes.....

You said online chat? Call their hotline instead? Dylan may be from sales or whatever department and not know what he's talking. Try to talk to another CSO from retention.

Anyway, last year when the CSO called back to confirm recontract, the conversation should be recorded.

actually is there anymore no-frill internet plan now? noticed ADSL internet is still not any cheaper even fibre is rolled out.

for new user of internet...so far singnet 6mbps with mobile broadband bundle is quite expensive in fact...user has to force to take the mobile broadband

wanna recommend one which is really cheap for basic internet surfing for my relative...

the CSO refused to let me sign up without the mobile broadband and said that the bundled mobile broadband is "free" but we all know that freebies which comes with broadband plans is usually not free ..... the Starhub 3Mbps basic cable plan is the cheapest now at promotion price of $25 .....

It's better to call to validate whether are u on 12mth or 24mth contract?? Singtel has various promotions thru the years and if u sign their 24mth contract with 50% off for 1st 12mths.......u're tied in for the next 12mths. Anyway, 1st verify ur contract obligations 1st.

actually the so-called "FREE" bundle is very misleading...esp when papers often bundled with laptops all that...isnt this very misleading? no one seems to take action against such marketing tactics...

anyway, it should not be the case where adsl or cable internet should be getting more expensive when fibre optics is rolling out....my opinions...

something is not right here

Thks .... i did saw his post but his post was 1 month ago and left 5 months ... even if not yet transfer, still left 4 months by now .... I don't know what kind of price I will get if I have to re-contract again 4 months later since I'm "new" ???

Once you take-over, your are no longer "new" but "exisitng" customer. Then you can ask to recontract this 10Mbps plan.

nobody wants to transfer their contract .... :(:(

As a new subscriber.....price plans for fibre optics hve come down..currently M1 is providing the lowest subscription rate.....$39.90 if I'm not wrong...check it out in the fibre optic threads and see whether it's more worthwhile.

But 100Mbps is overkill for 1 user who seldom download. Although it's $39 but is still paying more for something which I don't need. Trying to save some bucks here.

Agree tat 100Mbps is overkill but look at it from a absolute price perspective......and pick wat u think is value to u. Today, most low speed bb are discontinued or bundled with other services to maintain a certain minimum pricing by ISPs. Thus, only u can decide.

So, bottomline, unless u can get an existing user to xfer his/her line, ur choice lies with whether M1/Starhub/Singtel current offerings......leaving out other ISPs since they are recent and mostly offer fibre optics....

Yes. Thanks for the help guys. Recontract with 12mths service for $23.45. 15mbps is around $28. A bit of bouncing from dept to dept holding the line for 45mins before I reached the Customer Retention dept.

I need some feedback from any users who have gone from 6mbps plan to 10mbps plans.

Is there any significant real world difference after the speed upgrade?

was on 6 -> 8 -> 15 in previous years. Yes, there is a difference in surfing speed and downloads. Not much so for torrents as Singtel has been known to throttle our DL speeds.

can the bbom 1.5mbps be included in the 10mbps $23 ? if not how much extra must pay ?

According to conversation with the retention dept, they say bbom is not included in the 10mbps. $23.45 12mth contract offer. For package with bbom, only sales dept will handle and package is per website. Anyone differs?
