Really a lot of people around me who migrated overseas come back to Singapore.

Cannot.

So once renounce. Then no more SG citizenship and not PR. if go SG holiday is ok.

Want to stay to live and work need to get permit. Student permit. Work permit. ICA know you renounced they will say not approved. Reasons are not made known or in writing

I know cos my daughter applied for student permit after renounced. ICA say no. No reason. university appeal on her behalf. Again no. This was for just 1 month student permit also cannot. For elective.

So you can imagine apply for job Lagi cannot!

There is no going back as FT for ex SGrean. SGreans will be pissed if ICA allow that.

Those go back are those still SGrean citizen but have PR of their own country.

Another group very common is Msians.

Msians will get new citizenship but Msia dunno. So they hold eg Aussie and Msian passports.

Then they apply for work permit in SG using Msian passport. SG like Msian. Preferential country for applications. Approved.

Our ex Manpower minister actually said before that it is possible for ex singaporeans to reapply for work pass and PRs

Don't spread fake news here or else get pofma (Even though you are in Canada) 😂

  1. From 2012 to 2016, an average of 65 new Employment Passes and S Passes were issued each year to individuals who had previously given up their Singapore Citizenship. Every work pass application is assessed carefully and in consultation with relevant agencies. A variety of factors is considered including: (i) how much time has elapsed since Singapore Citizenship was renounced; (ii) whether the applicant has any ties to another citizen; and (iii) whether the applicant had avoided any obligations to the State when he gave up Singapore Citizenship.
My daughter tried to apply for the student permit just a year after she renounced. ICA never gave reason why rejected. Said they don't need to provide any reason.

I am telling the truth no POFMA. I don't know the reason cos none was given.

But when I renounced the officer did say if you want go back to SG is very difficult one.

My neighbor's son and his wife who migrated to Australia also now back and staying with his parent.

One of my fren migrated to NZ a couple of years ago and another one who migrated to UK all now back here.

Grass is always not greener on the other side?

All you friends cannot make it one. Mine are all very happy with their lifes in oversea.

also good la.. dont bother about sg
In a way burning the bridge means have to look elsewhere can never go to SG to make money anymore.

Pushes me to work harder. But I see the good easy life SGreans have I do regret why I gave up the easy life to get rich in SG also.

I never though SG would keep flourishing and become richer and richer . Neverending riches.

You not normal SGrean.
You look at the NS issue also. SGreans very clear they do not take back people who abandoned SG.

Foreigners go SG means SG satki so SGreans feel proud and happy.

Ex SGreans they wish us all die pain pain.

Ya even Amran renounced his citizen and happily settled in Aussie.

@cyke69sg The world is so big. If Canada doesn't work out, why not move to USA or other countries?

Why get so fixated on moving back to sg since Sg govt doesn't wanna bother much anymore?

Cos I not as smart as Amran.

I am a loser type. No skills. Stupid. Useless. Cannot make it.

Go anywhere also cannot one. Only in SG then can. I didn't know until I left SG. 😞

I studied in Australia but moved back to Singapore after graduation.

90% of my friends who studied in Australia at the same time as me, and who obtained PR, moved back to Singapore.

I just moved to Australia on 01 January 2025.

I won't be earning as much as compared to when I was earning in Singapore.

Daily eating out is more expensive as compared to Singapore. I was at a Singapore restaurant this afternoon. A bowl of Yong Tau Foo with 4 ingredients and noodles, cost almost A$20.

I eat at home most of the time as my mother-in-law cooks for every meal. So eating out hasn't really affected me much. But would prefer to eat out at least a few times a week.

Can't go anywhere without own vehicle. Lost my independency. Hate this aspect.

Other than the eating out and losing my independency (temporary), and being bored, living in Australia has been pretty good so far. Helps that I'm not working so life is pretty stress free (for now).

Pretty homesick. Miss my mum a lot though.
If you feel bored just play with your wife? Your MIL will understand.
