I emailed Panasonic, they said my air con is already 15 years old, they can't service it.

Anyway. I got another tech and solved the problem.
It's the capacitor not working and not activating the motor.

The idiotic part of this servicing experience is I asked two technicians and both i told them first that I suspect could be the capacitor spoilt. Because if the capacitor fail then the motor has difficulty kicking start ma tio bo.

One of them came never even see inside or test the electronics, I think he don't know how to test electrionic parts because he didn't bring any multimeter. Then said compressor must change say maybe circuit board or a switch inside spoilt. Never see inside and test anything and tell me maybe here and there, not very convincing to me. Later quote me a second hand unit which is just like 30% cheaper than a new one.

Circuit board i don't think so because if it stops working, it has a lower probability of being so intermittent unless connection got problem. The automatic switch maybe so i really tot was the problem.

Another tech online said straight must change a second hand compressor can't fix.

I get a third opinion. Tell them online specifically the problem and they said $40 bucks for inspection. I said okay.
Their guys came with a test meter, opened up the top of the compressor and diagnosed the readings. Changed the 25uf capacitor which was what I suspected in the first case and works again. Actually i see the internal, don't look hard to change but capacitor stores charges and can still leak electricity after removal so must leak the electricty from the part. Still don't suggest people to change themselves. :o
Can share the second technician contact?

Hi all,

Recently my AC blower speed is noticeably slower. It still blowing out (very) cool air tho... The speed is normal when AC first switched on, then shortly after few minutes it will just slow down... So now I just have to blast with highest fan mode =(

The malfunction occurred all of a sudden - not like deteriorate over weeks/ months type. The blower is very clean and the motor is able to rotate freely/easily; and the heat-exchanger/ coil was recently (chemically) washed too.

What are the possible cause/s?

Thermistor?
Blower's capacitor (is there such a thing? I saw a 22uF/450v on the PCB, is that the one?) ?
Condenser's capacitor (fan is spinning - not sure if speed is normal tho; AC is inverter type) ?

Any bros & sis can recommend technician?

Thanks!!

How big is big, as big as Suntec City? Without correct numbers, it’s anyone guess.

Humble experience

Managed to find one friend's uncle who does aircon cleaning for quite sometime. he is friendly and pretty easy to make appointment. They never upsell and give honest comments which is something I like, overall my third time washing with them. He speaks mandarin better so do speak in chinese lol

Hi thanks for the recommendation. May I know does he use high pressure spray with drainage bag hanging below the Aircon unit? Or dismantle to the toilet to hose off? Thanks again

yes he use spray and also dismantle some part to wash. he is honest old uncle, if he thinks is beyond washing, some parts are spoil and too ex to repair he will not clean and ask you to get a new one. ( for my case.)

Hi all,

Trying to source for aircon servicing options. My Toshiba A/C is more than 5 years old and 2 aircon maintenance guys are not keen to dismantle the blower, as evaporator coil is in bad shape. A/C still works fine. EDIT: spoke to some servicing companies - for Toshiba units, blower removal is not included in standard servicing.

Wonder what are the options available? Saw some options being jetspray but wonder if those will damage electronics. Tempted to DIY after seeing some videos.

I got a big problem.

The pana air con unit don't blow out cold air. It can blow out strongly, just not cold.
Compressor seems to be moving, indoor unit i've cleaned and suck the hose.
LED indicators look regular.

It is intermittent, sometimes work for a few days then don't work for a few days.
Set to lowest temp still don't work.

It will randomly suddenly start working.
Anybody encountered and know anyone able to solve this problem?
My AC guys say change compressor but mine is an old model, he don't seem to know what's wrong either.

if it's the mainboard spoilt, then it should not be intermittent problem.
He says maybe some magnetic controller spoilt which he don't have the sparepart. :(

Hi @testerjp ,

I am having the same problem with my Panasonic AirCon and the few companies I've contacted have been giving me the runaround. May I ask if you would share the contact of your aircon guy? I am very new to this forum, and as such, I don't have the option to send you a PM.

My email address is stilaholic@gmail.com

Thank you so much!

Just tried Gain City Economy Service, $50 for 1st FCU, $30 subsequent FCU.

One guy came, only dismantled the cover and wash, wash filters.

Very dissatisfied, I was told they will take out the blower rotor to wash but they never.

Very dissapointed. Feels like being conned.

The guy said the outdoor compressor needs to do chemical washing, I think he is trying to earn comission by selling me service which I don't need. Why need chemical washing so soon.

My system is only 1year old.

Is this False Advertising?

Cant say I had a good experience with SGOzoneAircon. 1st time booked with them for regular servicing. When the guy came down (Keith or kenneth or something) he said my aircon condition was bad and needed chemical overhaul. Took his advice and paid $150 for 1 unit chemical overhaul.

2 months later, yesterday, 2 technicians from another company doing regular servicing showed me that it wasnt even a proper chemical overhaul and was done poorly as the fins at the back werent cleaned at all and choked. They explained how a proper chemical wash should be and that theirs involved more thorough steps and at almost half the price.
Will try theirs next and update.

Sucky feeling but I blame myself for not doing more research.

That's part of the research process. engaging one company after another. Keep those who you think are consistent.

Hi, so did they do anything to cause it to spoil? I experience similar aircon not blowing cold air after the chemical wash. Ofc not immediately, but within the one month.

Upon checking, the motherboard (pcb) and fan motor in compressor unit was spoiled and melted due to trapped moisture.

Not sure if this is related or mot.
unfortunately for us, if spoiled more than one day after servicing, they are not on the hook. so bo bian.. have to fork out own money to fix.

I also had the same experience servicing my Midea aircon many years back.
Serviceman was inexperienced, claim not familiar with this brand.
After servicing, there was a cranking noise and called them back. Think they spoilt something or didn’t put the parts back properly.
End up couldn’t repair the whole aircon, had to buy new one.
