Thanks for the lorbang. Took Da Zhou service and bring us aroud Tai Chung. We went to more than 5 places and before ending our journey at around 8++, he brought us go to a park which is in Tai Chung which is special, it is dug into the ground. Very special. ;), also brought us to a very popular ru rou fan in Tai Chung and we tapau back to hotel.

A nice guy and friendly as well. Definately engage his service again when in Tai Chung next time.

recommend jiufen/shifen etc driver

I'm posting to recommend Mr Charlce Du as a driver.

We engaged his services for a full day trip on the 24/9 to Jiufen, Shifen, Houtou etc.

After he picked us up in morning, he asked if we had eaten breakfast, when we informed him that we did not have the time for breakfast, he bought us soyamilk and some local breakfast foods, free-of-charge!

He then provided us with a local cellphone (for the whole day!) to use to contact him after dropping us off at Yehliu (the stones place?) and was caring enough to pass us an umbrella as it was raining.

After which he brought us to eat some local seafood which I must say was very good, when I offered to buy him lunch as a way of thanking him for breakfast, he wouldn't let me and really made me feel like an honored guest.

We ended the day at shifen, where he once again bought us some local snacks ( mini hotdogs?) and when we finally reached back our airbnb, even though we had overshot the original timing by about 2 hours (we ended at 730pm) he was not fussy about it.

I highly recommend him as a driver to all, with his caring nature and the fact that he willingly offered to take photos for us consistently, he provided us with top notch service.

Lastly, as we were driving back, he did mention that the driver industry was getting more competitive and therefore I hope that this review will attract others to engage his services. I promise you won't regret it!

looking for taichung driver - for 6 adults

Dear all,

I am looking for a taichung driver for my coming trip. I contacted quite a few drivers that drive a bigger car but they are all booked during my preferred dates.
Any recommendations?

Managed to contact Da Zhou and he happens to be available during the timing we want.

We plan to go from Taichung > SML > Choc factory > Cingjing Minsu. Stay overnight. 2nd day go to the farm + others before going to Taipei.

Besides the daily transportation charges, he is asking of 1000nt for staying in Minsu.

What is the practice?

it is a common practice to pay accommodation for driver to stay overnight when outstation.

some drivers will factor in this accommodation charge to ALL IN price, it depends.

Took some bros' recommendation and managed to find this guy called Mark. He charged me NT4000 for 4pax one day. Is it counted expensive? Got anyone has better driver to recommend?

Engaged the services of Mr Yu (于大哥) for the second time, and it was very much worth it.

Was in Taipei for 3 days, and planned a 5 day roadtrip from Taipei > Taichung > Cingjing > Hualien > Yilan. However, our plans were disrupted from Typhoon Dujuan. We were in Taichung when the typhoon hit, and Hualien was a no-go as the bridges were broken. Eventually relied on the guide's expertise to adjust the itinerary, even when it involved significant rerouting and hotel rebookings.

I'm sure there are many decent drivers like him, but my suggestion is to go with the tested ones. You can try to cut corners by engaging cheaper drivers, but only the reliable ones will have the local knowledge/connections to sort things out. His charges are fair.

Easiest way is to contact him through Whatsapp/LINE.

thumbs up! indeed if typhoon strikes, its really headache to replan or rebooked everything, but with a experience guide, everything is great
