If you don't have desk space, at least make enough space for iLoud as that is the smallest speaker that sounds proper. Anything else is a compromise between sound quality and space or $$$.

Creative Roar in stereo mode maybe can work? But the speakers themselves stop working when their battery spoil.
Hello, thanks for the reply. Not looking for audiophile level speaker hahaha.

I am currently renting room so having a limited space with only a 100cm desk with a 27inch monitor (no built in speaker). Currently using JBL flip 4 via aux cable connecting to my monitor. However, there is cutting off issue as the speaker will go into standby mode if no input source for 2-3 seconds, kind of annoying as the initial 0.5second sound will be cut out.

So I am looking to replace the flip 4 either with Sony XB-32 (newer version XB23/33 doesnt have aux jack) or Bose soundlink mini 2 or other computer speaker like Creative T10 with budget < $200 . Edifier bookshelves speakers are too large to fit on my 100cm desk lols and not considering logitech due to not a fan of its design. I will mainly use the speakers for multimedia purpose: gaming. music, movie and youtube.

Just wondering what is the community thoughts on using a portable speaker as compared to 2.0/2.1 computer speaker for multimedia purpose due to space constraint?

The same will applies for all portable speakers to save battery.
Also constant charging will kill your battery very fast.

Maybe you can consider

Creative Stage Air

then update the firmware to prevent auto power down.

Of cos Soundbar will mostly lose to proper 2.0 Speakers.

At this price point and considering the space, would creative T100 or T60 be the optimal solution for 2.0 speakers?

Logitech Z407 2.1? Small size speaker can tuck under the monitor, sub can either put under the table or on top.
Or the Edifier G2000 game speaker.
Either way Bluetooth speaker are not intended to be use as desktop speaker.
It will off when no signal is to save power.

27-inch is possible if you go something like R2000DB or R1850DB.

Better to buy the biggest speaker that fits then enjoy it with your 27-inch screen, than buy a half-fk speaker then see all the empty space left over and suffer buyer's remorse.
