Compressor broke in less than 1 year

i bought LG fridge GBB4459GV on 2 May 2021&was delivered 22 May 2021.The fridge was not cooling down as of yesterday 16May2022, which is technically less than 1yr of everyday use.Technician came&advised it was compressor issue which is a major component caused by wear&tear.i requested for 1-for-1 exchange of the fridge instead of repair.Fridge breaking down within 1 year is totally unheard of,unless i was given a defective unit to begin with.the compressor is a major component that i do not expect to break within 1 yr.compared to other brands, even older models do not give this kind of problem.i do not want to have any trouble with my fridge again when it is already out of warranty, which is in another year.i have not been able to get the value out of what i have paid and its already causing major issue.this is the first time i ever purchased a major LG appliance and it really leaves me a very bad impression of the quality that i’ll never buy another LG product. Theres no extended warranty for the part that was broken even after calling customer service 7 times. LG is plagued with various compressor issues and there was a class action suit in US for “no cooling event” for another fridge model and it was settled for extended 5yr warranty and express repair service.unfortunately no such thing in singapore.beware.

Apparently not a lot of choice anymore for brands coz manufacturer of parts are the same set of players.

3 times the price = I can buy the non Jap fridge thrice... ask yourself if you have the wallet size and if the looks make such a difference to make it worth it. Your choice
Just like Haiku fans - they cost around three times the cost of a KDK or Fanco... value is in the eye of the beholder..

3 x more expensive does not means 3 x more durable too. for me paying 10% - 20% higher if it is longer lasting still ok.

I've actually placed order for panasonic nr-yw590 but after looking around, i found hitachi rwb560p9ms internal configurations more to my liking. However, hitachi has only 2 ticks while panasonic has 3. Wld there be any significant electrical consumption with only a tick's difference?

Bump this thread.
Looking for a good 4 or 6 door.
Can’t make my mind up between Hitachi, Panasonic, Sharp or Mitsubitshi.

Any advice ? Thanks in advice.

saw a lot of bad comments on Mitsubishi in this thread.

Hi,

I'm using an Mitsubishi 3 door inverter fridge and the compressor is making quite a loud sound at night.

Is it common or should I call up Mitsubishi?

Thanks.
