saw the alienware ultrawide in IT show.. $1099.

Good deal given I paid alot more for it when it first released. It's a very good panel and everything runs perfectly and seamlessly. BF5 runs at almost 100 over FPS consistently and it's smooth as butter.

You have to manually go into the monitor OSD and set the overclock to 120hz then go back into windows settings and change the monitor refresh rate to 120hz otherwise you won't see that refresh rate setting. My panel can hit 120hz from Day 1 but some panels reportedly can only hit 115Mhz. Luck of the draw I guess as Dell only guarantees at 100Hz. You'll know you can hit 120hz if it doesn't flicker intermittently. Otherwise back it down to 115hz.

Then 240hz will be smooth as air haha

wah but ultrawide 1440p monitor, for your budget i think best can get prism liao loh.. $600 for 1440p 100hz,

if get other brands(alienware, acer) confirm hit 1k +, then your PC not enough money to build alr haha!

Alienware -> aw3418dw $1k+
Acer -> X34P or Z35P $1k+
Prism -> X340 $600
So I should get Prism X340 if ultra wide?
What about not ultra wide but getting a bigger screen but 4K resolution?

Actually, you can get a ryzen 7 2700 with a B450 motherboard for S$600 or less, or ard 6XX, get a X470 motherboard. 2700 is basically 2700X at a lower clock speed, you can easily OC to match 2700X.
Hahaha dun really get your statement
But I gather means I should get Ryzen 7 2700 as the main processor with an X470 motherboard?

1) CPU: Intel is more expensive for the same( or actually alot weaker performance if you do multi-core/threading heavy tasks like video editing) so I wouldnt go with intel at all. But hey, your money your com. Intel is never a good choice for budget.

2) GPU - The 2060 is not a RTX-ready nor is it a 4k-ready GPU. It is at best a 1440p GPU, and its RTX capabilities are mediocre at best. 4k-ready starts at 2070, best bet is 2080 onwards. The 1080ti is 4k-ready too but lack RTX capabilities, albeit much cheaper than the 2080/2080ti

3) Ram: Always go dual channel, never single channel. If you decide on 32gb, 16x2. if 16gb, 8x2.
Thanks for the reply!

Whats RTX capabilities ?

If he truly intends to game at 4k(horribly expensive), 75hz is more than enough. No gpu is powerful enough to push >80Hz at 4k anyway.
I guess means 4k screen not worth the money then
For 1440p what GPU would u recommend?

For 1440p gaming ultra settings high framerate go for RTX2080 since you have the budget and mainly for gaming.

Just RTX 2080? any difference for RTX 2080ti?

rtx 2080 good enough for 1440p gaming. Rtx 2080ti if you want more frames per sec. If you want to use cable just buy cat6 cat 7 ethernet cable connect your pc to your router or modem for internet. If you want to use wireless just buy cheap usb wireless dongle from taobao $5-$10 good enough can use.

Or can buy those tplink usb dongle from challenger or online lazada can use wireless already.

Cooler if you use intel buy a cheap cooler like the coolermaster evo 212 good enough. For amd system their stock cooler is really good just use those no need to buy.

RTX capabilities is the ability to do ray tracing and DLSS on games that support it. Not many games support it now and the ones that do is not very good.

2 x 8gb dual channel good enough. 2 x 16gb is overkill most of the time.

Do you need a good audiophile headphones or headsets for gaming?

Do you need a good speaker 2.1 or 5.1 setup? Or soundbar?

Do you need a controller for your gaming needs to play platform games? Sometimes better to use controller for certain games. i.e xbox one controller/ps4 dualshock 4 controller or logitech f310/f710

Do you need a rgb mechanical keyboard and rgb gaming mouse?

Do you need a large extended mousepad to go with your setup?

Do you need a microphone for in game chat like blue yeti?

Perhaps a headphone stand to go with your headphones if you intend to buy one?
