You can definitely wear Balmoral Dress Boots with suits. Eg below.

Just save the usual Derby style boots and fat workboot style lasts for Tweed hunting Suits and Sport coats where they belong.

And yes, that includes the Girard "dress" boot

Hop over to the "shoo fer yng exec", state ur budget and style.

Definitely there are many dress shoes there better than red wings, since red wings are work boots first and foremost and will not be pushing the envelop of quality.

Arch support for red wings

Just wanted to give contribute back to where I used to get all my red wings info from!

Ever since I started wearing red wings 875, its quite painful to wear for long periods as I have a flat foot, and I tried inserting in arch support that I bought from those sporting houses, but its too thick and makes the shoe too tight. So recently I an idea struck me to use my Nike lunar flyknit insoles into my red wings, and the result was AWESOME. It was super comfortable and now I can wear my red wings out more often less the pain. Plus, the insoles is really thin, so it isn't really that tight, may need to wear it out at least once to expand a little, then you will be fine already. Socks wise, I been wearing the thin socks that goes up nicely to the height of the boot.

Hope this helps those who are facing the same problem.

I also have flatfoot, but I think wearing full cushion boot socks helps a lot.
I did tried once wearing regular medium thickness socks for 875, it's rather hard.
But wearing proper boot socks (full cushion ones from Darn Tough), very comfortable.

Agree on the boots socks. Did my first 2 wears using normal thin socks. The 2nd wear was excruciating by evening time. Bought their socks and tried a 3rd wear. Much much better!

The black SAF socks that I bought has some polyester mixed in and don't absorb sweat that well. When my feet sweat they just end up stewing in a wet mess.
