Do you experience whatsapp or viber messages delayed when you use china phones? I have used a few bought-in-china phone (from taobao) which basically, no whatsapp messages will come in unless you activated the app. Setting the app to auto start doesn't help.

Go to SETTING -> INSTALLED APPS -> WHATSAPPS -> NOTIFICATIONS -> on SHOW NOTIFICATIONS and APP ICON BADGE

Most of your stuttering I feel is either not enough ram ( <=4gb) or poor MIUI optimizations. Of course micro stuttering is subjective to each person's tolerance.

Generally, if you have 6gb ram and stock-ish Android, there should be minimal lag or none.

6gb ram is really smooth as baby buttock :s13:

You'll have to wait a while... A fastboot global rom is still not released yet.... or at least a working link to download one because a recovery rom was released but everyone needs the fastboot version which the download link is not working.

Fyi: the recovery rom doesn't work as it will keep rebooting when I restart the phone.... Says "finding device closed unexpectedly" message many times. Flashing via the flashboot rom will solve that issue they say
You mean for all the China sets RMN7 or the 6gb ram?

Tried. It doesn't work.
You need to do everything and then lock the WhatsApp app means keeping it on. Alternatively you can flash the EU rom. This is why I don't really like xiaomi phones.. Always got this issue. Hate Miui honestly. But then again as a spare phone it's really unrivalled at its price point. Switched to OP6T liao...

All my 5 xiaomi phones are local sets with local 1 year warranty. No issues at all with WhatsApp.
Check the App Battery Saver and then change to "no restrictions".

Ignore the note 7 with the inferior Samsung sensor and wait for pro version that's bundled with the powerful Sony IMX586 sensor la.

Yes smooth..... Most of the time. There are some weird instances where I wanna go back to home screen, I see just a blank screen of my wallpaper for 1-2 seconds then the apps appear. Launcher being slow....? I dunno:s22:

Usually china phones have this problem, cos I think China doesn't support WhatsApp...? Last time bought a Meizu phone online also had this issue. Like what others said, set the restrictions for the app to off, autostart WhatsApp. If still doesn't work, you'll need to flash to a EU or global rom.

My RMN2 China set has this problem. Now using RMN4 China set so far no problem
