It's a good start of the new Redmi brand that started out just this year, and the Redmi Note 8 Series will be coming real soon! More details will be announced tomorrow.

I think the rmn7 will still continue to sell better than the upcoming rmn8 since it uses the MTK SoC

I disagree. You could argue that the Mediatek Chipset has worse power efficiency than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 since its fabricated on the 12 nanometer process but there are multiple reasons why Redmi went for the Mediatek Helio G90T Chipset rather than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730.
1. It distinguishes itself from the crowd since it uses Mediatek’s Chipset compared to Qualcomm.
2. The Camera ISP of Mediatek Helio G90T is significantly stronger than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730. It supports 64 Megapixel Images along with support for 4 rear cameras compared to just 48 and triple cameras for Qualcomm.
3. The GPU is stronger than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730. But trades off in CPU performance.
With all of this in mind, Redmi’s Note 8 will be a true success and will outsell the rmn7.

OK. But MTK always looks nice on paper. We'll see when it's actually released

People choose Snapdragon SOC for some reasons:

1) Better firmware support. Update frequency are more consistent.

2) More battery efficient in long run. Hardly people cares about the performance of the phone. Benchmarks doesn't prove anything. In real life scenario, people care more about whether their phones are not hot to touch after game for long period of time and don't eat too much battery juice.

3) If Google can rely on 12MP and take wonderful picture. you will know that Megapixels are just a number game. Even if i give you 100MP but your image processing are no where near Gcam HDR+ quality. you are just as lousy as many phones out there.

U think it's a true success? i strongly doubt it. Never ONCE a MTK phone sells as good as SD phone.

btw, Xiaomi have the largest 3rd party custom roms available and many people buy Xiaomi phones partly because of the extensive roms available, some immediately flashed to their own preferred rom once they got it, because they know MIUI sucks badly.

honestly right mediatek has been upping their game not too badly in the midrange segment. their p70 has comparable performance to the sd710 while having similar power consumption with the sd660. look at the oppo f11 pro, has a very similar endurance on gsmarena as the rn7. their p60 also not too bad. mediatek also outsells sd phones in the low end market; not obvious in sg but in other poorer countries like india where people care more about having a functional phone and price is a big factor. if mediatek really kena stomped by qualcomm how then would it have survived all these years and even continue pushing new chips? the g90 honestly looks quite promising, and we shouldn't apply the oh mediatek is slow and overheats mindset as with their x series.

rom support isn't really a big deciding criteria for most average buyers, so if g90 delivers sd730 performance as rumoured for cheaper, it would be a great deal for many people. personally I will still stick to snapdragon, since I do value custom roms and gcam, but for the average user they would just like something that doesn't lag and is cheap, so the chipset brand wouldn't really matter anyway.

Used mediatek in the past, benchmark and specs all better. But can feel it is slower compared to SD.

Will never get them again.

there is no global rom for rn7p, closest is indian rom. where u buy your rn7p from? high chance he install custom rom like xiaomi.eu.

Nothing got to do with the phone, waza is a more data hungry app.

You can get the TPG with free unlimited data, but there's no reception underground, be prepare to change your internet setting when you know that you will be going underground.

Or get those sim cards with large data plan. You can get more information from this thread
