Good info. From here, there is no s/w problem with CN set and $175 is a good price for a very capable phone. Hope the Note8 with NFC will come in soon.

Redmi Note 8T (NFC version) local set with IMDA certification label was very recently spotted on Carousell. However, only comes with seller shop warranty.

Those of you using the phone, any problems with popular games and apps? Cos this uses a MediaTek processor... used give lots of problems with Playstore apps where some apps won't even appear cos not compatible... still got this problem? Looking at the pro local set...

The A3 is probably less of a hassle and none of that Mi stuff preloaded.

Redmi Note 8 Pro - Perhaps, one of the things i dont like about this phone is that it still uses the old hybrid dual sim tray (2 slots max). The rest are very decent specs.

just search for any qc3 compatible charger on lazada or shopee. i use some no brand qc3 charger for only $10 :s22:

it is quite easy since it is basically just like sideloading apps normally, but setting up a bit troublesome. but up to whether u think the few extra dollars is worth your time.

Read some Redmi Note 8 Indian reviews and most said 18W Charger is included in the box. SG consumers short-changed again?

Is it better to get the Redmi Note 8 Pro or the P30 Lite? For watching videos, simple whatsapp messaging/phone calls.

P30 Lite spec (Kirin 710 based) is even a bit lower than Redmi Note 8 (SD665 based), let alone Redmi Note 8 Pro, and the Singapore model does not have NFC.

If you do not need NFC, why not just get non-pro Redmi Note 8? It will be fine for your use cases.

Why you all phobia of MediaTek if just for daughter use meaning no need tinkering just get local set Redmi note 8 or 8 pro. Depending the phone supposedly last how long If last 1-2 years and your girl is not playing games then note 8 and if your girl play games or last more than 2 years get 8 pro

Becos kids then to be ragged and lost things no need expensive phones

I think you quote the wrong post but never mind. You are right to say to choose the local set. And go for Redmi Note 8 Pro for games.

But not so sure about recommendation to go with Redmi Note 8 Pro if more than two years part. The quality of both phones should be good enough for more than two years (say three years) in most cases. And if not for gaming both phones should be good enough in terms of performance.

As for MTK, it is just a personal opinion, just call me biased. I do know that P60/P70 seem to be pretty good -- no thermal issues. And I do not play games. Just got a low end Realme 5 SD665 3GB/64GB local set for S$199 recently and I feel it is not slow at all -- I am using Huawei P20 Kirin 970 as my main phone which should be faster but I feel the SD665 is already good enough.
