Just received a parallel set from Lazada. Global ROM, India set. No call recording as it comes with Google message and dialer.

See my previous post. If you are coming from old Xiaomi phone and you has backup with Mi cloud. Mi Dialer, message is restore as part of the restore process.

Default global set comes with Google dialer and Google messages app. But to save your own face you keep insisting that the global set has call recording feature.
The forum links which you provided already said the restoration method won't work as the MIUI apps restored this way will give errors and force close.

1. As long as you are previously on Xiaomi Global (before Android 9), you will be fined when you port over to new Xiaomi phone in term of dialer and SMS message. However, suggest not to use Mi server to assist in sending SMS. Turn it off under message setup menu.
2. Limitation of recording function on Google dialer (for country privacy reason) will be restored early next year.
3. If you have China rom and side load Google play. Check play store-setting you may find your phone status is "device is not certified". You may have problem with banking and payment application.
4. If you unlock bootloader and flash global rom to phone with China rom, you cannot lock bootloader again as phone may go defect. Phone with bootloader unlock may have same issue as "3".

So be very careful when flashing rom. Also suggest you make use of Google cloud or mi cloud to back your old phone then restore to new phone.

This is only applicable to phone ship with Android version 9. If you restore your setup from older Xiaomi phone, you get dialer replaced back to Mi dialer (plus message and contact). This is mention in Xiaomi website.

If you are first time Xiaomi user. Download the apk from Xiaomi community or with till Google has this change by early next year.

Long time Xiaomi user likely did not know the different as they probably restore setup from backup.

When you get a new phone, restore step is at 4th or 5th option after you have setup WiFi. Rest is wait for process to complete.

normal non pro note 8 does not have nfc. note 8 pro and 8t have.
but yes, so long as have nfc, means can use google pay for credit/debit card and public transport.

You need to unlock bootloader first. AND you cannot lock it back after flashing to Google rom. So think twice as Google play store will flag your device to non certified.
