My preference is that I won't upgrade if my phone is working fine (working and not too slow). Only thing is that if the phone breaks down and I need to get suitable phone immediately to replace, then I may not get the offers. So if you can get a standby phone and tie over the period, then can wait.

Unless you want a new feature like NFC, or 2 SIM + SDCard, etc, then even if the phone is working, can switch.

My redmi 5+ is still working fine but after the most recent update, i noticed there is a slight lag and the batt life took a hit as well so i am wondering if it is time for an upgrade.

I don't really need NFC but it is a good to have function.

No such thing as worth it or not from 2 users. Everyone have different view and willingness to spend on gadgets. Same as why some find iPhone cheap and justified.

This is so true hahaz

Some updates give problem. Subsequent updates will clear the problem.

I think I may be upgrading from my redmi 5+ to note 8 pro cus the specs r just too good for its price!

Anyway, side track a bit. Anyone use mi mover before? I know it could copy everything from the old phone over to the new phone. Even existing whatsapp/telegram chat? Is there still a need to backup and import the chats into new phone?

TIA!

Mi mover is not 100%, some app might not be carried over due to compatibility or what. Just do a manual backup first

Just use mi mover, those not copied over just do manually. Should at least copy over 80-90% of the app and pretty much fuss free. mi mover also copy your media as well.
