Someone exposed this Angela Tay and her dad, carousell account @drivinghoneybee
Scams intro fees like $100 from unsuspecting students when PDI contacts are readily available online or via police website. Refuse to pay intro fees to "agents" who disguise themselves as helping you! Did some csi on reviews abut her dad .

pdireviews[dot]com/tay-tiang-chong/

WARNING this man is now teaching under the name of Davis Zheng! Found him on Carousell through a contact called Angela Tay (I’m pretty sure she’s his daughter cause they have the same surname. her username is angelataych.) Paid a $100 sign up fee for her to pass me his number and tell me that his name was Davis Zheng. It seemed rly expensive but the carousell reviews were good so I just went with it. He made me pay a $60 deposit too. But during my lessons (7 in total) he kept referring to himself as Mr Tay, which I found super shady. Today I googled his number and found this page. Everything makes sense now!! WARNING TO EVERYONE PLS DO NOT LEARN FROM THIS GUY I took seven lessons and learned nothing at all. Didn’t even do a single directional change (for reference my sister learned how to do a directional change within her fourth lesson). For five consecutive lessons, I did the exact same thing: drive in a straight line for 20min, one U-turn, then another 20min of driving in a straight line. I’ve already told him during previous lessons that this is a waste of time but he would tell me that I had to “build up my confidence first” before he would teach me to do other things. Today I got in the car and told him that I didn’t want to do the same thing again this week for the sixth time and he took it super personally. He got super defensive and was like “ok then don’t learn with me anymore!! Mr Tay is just teaching you according to what I know!! cause I am the driving instructor... ”

Posting review for Mr Frankie Yue.

3A, Toyota Axio
Pickup at Ubi CDC (Can arrange for Tai Seng / Ubi MRT pick up)

Chose him mainly because of the review I saw while trawling through the many pages in this thread, and that he also has quite a high pass rate / student numbers as well.

Can confirm that he is indeed a top notch instructor. Took approximately ~10 lessons from him (did have some prior driving lessons with school) and passed TP on the first try some time back.

He is patient, and will point out mistakes every single time you make them. Gives very good tips for driving in circuit and on the road, can fully recommend him. Speaks good English, but does not engage much in small talk. I'm by nature not a chatty person, so this suited me really well. Does not scold you / chide you even if you don't do well, but instead he will remind or nag you.

He is professional as well, and is always there on time. Does not take frequent toilet breaks while driving as well. Even if he does need to answer nature's call, he'll do it quickly.

Only downside is that he appears to have a lot of students, and therefore scheduling can be a bit difficult especially for working adults. (Was running 1 lesson at week for some time).

Feel free to PM me should you want his contact, can 100% recommend him.

Please PM me his contact.

Don't get scammed by "agents" like Angela Tay (81807536). their page is facebook[dot]com/Drive-Right-Private-Driving-Lessons-169909837111707

If the PDI is a true recomendation why are they charging fees to simply pass you a contact, think about it, easy money to Angela, when the contact can be found online FOR FREE.

YAAAA GUYS don't message this rojak person who ask to pm. Either rojak is getting a commission from scamming with Angela, or is Angela herself. Stop promoting Agents like her.
Wah this David Tay can become Davis Zheng, David Zheng, Tay Tiang Chong uh. So many identities, hiding what uh. Don't fall into the same trap as his victims.
KNN cheater.

PLEASE DONT BELIEVE THE ABOVE. I TOOK DRIVING LESSONS FROM DAVID TAY TIANG CHONG AND THE POST ABOVE IS SO OBVIOUSLY WRITTEN BY HIMSELF. ON MY FIRST DAY HE ALREADY TOLD ME TO CHECK FORUMS TO SEE HOW GOOD HE IS, AND THIS IS THE ONLY ENTRY ON HIM.

ANYWAY, HE NOT ONLY DIDN'T TEACH ME NOTHING BUT DRIVING AROUND ON MAIN ROADS, NO CIRCUIT, ATTEMPT U-TURN TWICE, 3 POINT TURN TWICE, AND ONLY ONE CIRCUIT LESSON BEFORE YOUR TP TEST.

DURING LESSON, HE WILL BE ON THE PHONE, LISTENING TO HIS KARAOKE, AND I JUST FAILED TODAY NOT BECAUSE I COULDNT PARK OR DRIVE, BUT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T TEACH ME THE BASIC THINGS LIKE CHECKING BLIND SPOT WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS OR EVEN BRAKING.

HE CHARGES THE SAME EVEN WHEN YOU ARE LATE AND ENDS ON TIME. BUT HE GOES FOR 20 MIN TOILET BREAK. THIS BREAK WILL INCLUDE RINSING HIS MOUTH, EATING HIS FOOD OUTSIDE HIS CAR, AND TONGUE CLEANING. NOT ONCE. NOT TWICE. BUT EVERY SINGLE LESSON. HE WILL TAKE A 10 - 20 MINUTE TOILET BREAK. OF COURSE HE DIDNT PRO RATE MY FEES TO 40MIN. WHAT A DOG.

ALTOGETHER, HE CHARGE $54 FOR ONLY ONE HOUR AND MADE ME DRIVE-ONLY FOR 29 LESSONS. OF WHICH, HE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE ME TO THE CIRCUIT. OR LEARN THINGS LIKE U-TURN OR 3 POINT TURNS.

I CREATED THIS ACCOUNT JUST TO WARN EVEYRONE NOT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY. HE DOES NOT WANT YOU TO PASS, BUT TO FAIL AND RETAKE MORE LESSONS WITH HIM.

I CHECKED WITH OTHERS, PRIVATE INSTRUCTORS NOT ONLY CHARGE MUCH LESS FOR 1.5 HOURS, BUT THEY TAKE ONLY 10 LESSONS BEFORE THEIR PRACTICAL TEST. AND THE CHERRY TO TOP IT ALL OFF IS THAT HIS PASSING RATE IS ONLY 21% WHICH I NEVER QUESTIONED UNTIL TODAY.

PLEASE DON'T LEARN FROM THIS DAVID TAY SGC 8471 TOYOTA VIOS SILVER

1) He took at least a 10 minute break every lesson without fail. Given his high charges, this was pretty annoying. He doesn’t take a moment’s break between students so he buys food and uses the washroom during classes instead. Once, I showed unhappiness that he wanted to stop to buy something and he felt insulted, explaining many times after that that he was a good teacher and not interested in scamming my money. He also fancies himself an A class karaoke master and often showed me his videos and singing techniques in class good lord.

2) He charged me $18 to enter a multi-storey car park to practice parking on the top floor. He said that his friends were in charge of the car park and private driving students like myself could use the top floor to practice car park. I only learned much later that this is complete hogwash. Private students aren’t even legally allowed to practice in car parks.

3) He taught me parallel parking a day before the exam. I was very unprepared for the test and failed. He made me practice far less useful skills like 3-point turn and narrow U-turn countless times (both of which aren’t even tested nb) while leaving all the important skills to the end. What I am implying, of course, is that he withholds teaching you properly so that he can profit from you failing your test.

4) He never returned my deposit. But more on that later.

After I failed I continued taking more lessons from him. However, I was starting to feel amiss and that things didn’t add up. I consulted another private instructor I happened to chance upon on the way home, asking him about the way in which my instructor conducted his classes. He told me that the charges were exorbitant and unreasonable. He referred me to his friend who was a private auto instructor whom I called once to inquire more. A day after that, Mr David Tay ceased contact with me, refusing to pick up my calls and texts, never returning my deposit as well. I felt humiliated and angered that I did not even get the last word. He must have ears and eyes around to have found out what I had found out within the span of a day.

Agreed, bro
btw guys, please avoid agents and dont ever look for instructors from those websites who claim they can introduce you to them. a lot of them lurk this forum in the pretext to intro you. They will play the numbers from your hourly rate to earn omission, and as a result, you pay more.

Most good instructors are usually fully booked and can only squeeze like one lesson a week for you. If you get an instructor that has many open slots. High possibility is that he is blacklisted by many.

Also take some positive reviews with a pinch of salt as a lot of them are written by people who are acquainted with the instructor, eg; daughter/son,nephew etc.

Especially when you see there are equally many negative reviews.

Got to know my instructor thru this “agent” and found out how much this person was earning just by providing us the contact of the instructor 😑😑😑 from what I know, the Instructors do not receive a single cent from the enrolment fee that she collected.

Don't get scammed by "agents" like Angela Tay (81807536). their page is facebook[dot]com/Drive-Right-Private-Driving-Lessons-169909837111707
