I beg to differ with you! I'm taking lessons with Mr. Yeo, (although I've failed twice due to silly mistakes), I still find him a very reliable and patient PDI. When I forgot I had lessons, he will drive all e way to my place to pick me up, cus he doesn't even want me to waste that few minutes of driving since I've paid for the lesson. And he always smiles and makes jokes! And I think it's not nice to say his speaking is "lao hong" as he's not young anymore. Everyone will get to his age eventually, so do think before you speak.

One thing that he failed to teach me is to e-brake properly. He did try with me during circuit lessons, but each time I clutch in, he did not correct me. Which caused me to get chided by my tested on my 2nd TP. He also tells me it's ok to turn my steering wheel without accelerating during parking, if my control is not good. But this also costs me points during my TP. So I guess you've to make a judgement whether to listen to his advice.

But generally, he's extremely nice, very time-oriented, never once late for lessons or cancel his lessons, very systematic (especially for newbies) as he teaches based on green book (practical learning book). Never once lose his patience. And most importantly, he has good driving skills and tips as he's very experienced! This is what I trust most learners are looking out for. So it's irrelevant to review based on things like if the PDI smiles or frowns or speaks "lao hong".

He may get more n more students in due to his popularity, as I believe he has high standards for his trainees. But as long as you show that you've interest in driving, he will teach you till you are good! Sorry for the long post.

hmm, i think i'm the only who doesn't find Mr Yeo patient.

had 2 lessons with him.

during 1st lesson he already wasn't very patient with me. Assume i know most of the sequence of driving & how to brake. How would i know when to depress brake/clutch first?? how would i know its depending on which gear i'm in?

He made me so nervous when i stall the car or turn too late etc. by making those frustrated expression. When i make mistakes, he don't point out. Only say its wrong, never mind, it's too late. like huh????!!!

i have to personally ask him where went wrong??!!!

also, i can't really catch what he is saying sometimes. he doesn't speak very clearly in my opinion, like lao-hong (duno no teeth or just can't speak clearly) if you get my meaning.

or maybe i'm just deaf, can't hear properly.

He has never smiled at me also. i don't mean he has to smile to everyone, but he gave me the feeling he really doesn't like me.

He also told me so many students from forum looking for him now, make him so busy & gave a frown! i was so shocked! even tried to make a joke, said "good mah, getting popular". he just kept quiet, continue to frown.

i think better don't recommend him so many students lah, maybe he can't cope or what. crazy. 1st time see people earn money but so unhappy?! :s11:

again, it's just my experience, not trying to flame him or what. Maybe i'm just unlucky.

Hi edwinteo

I just passed my FTT last friday. So anxious to find a good instructor. haha. How about NG BENG CHOON? i saw from the traffic police web, his passing rate is like 66%, whih is quite high. U have any idea is he better than Mr Chua?

hmm...i think snow_lim have commented...his passing rate is 66% but his total student only a few....i think it is better to look for PDI with more then 50 student with passing rate more then 55%?

Hey, i just Passed BTT, and im intending to take private @ SSDC. After looking though the thread, is Mr CHUA TIAM HWEE 96523770, one of the better choices available? I intend to take my TP asap, probably below 20 lesson, does Mr Chua allow for early TP booking? Also, i have yet to book my FTT, can Mr Chua book FTT For me?

Hi Kevin,

Once ready, Mr Chua will then ask you to book your TP. As for FTT, i not so sure...

It does seem like straberrytomb was talking about an entirely different person, yeah? Maybe Mr. Yeo has a split personality disorder or something. lol.

Could it be that straberrytomb got a different PDI, instead of Mr. Yeo? 'Cause I did warn that the school would try to hand you off to a different (lousier) PDI... :/

In any case, I'm glad you find him a good PDI. I was so conflicted when bad reviews of him were posted that I've stopped recommending him to anybody.

Personal experience about PDI driving instructor Mr Tan ( 96520373 ) at bbdc:

1. Ends lesson 15mins eariler, when I paid 2 full hours @ $32/hour, 15mins = $8
2. Arrived 15mins late and no sense of apologetic
3. Uses vulgarities

YES im under him too! He will cut short lesson 15 mins.
The way he charge is inconsistent too!

For the loaning of car for TP, he charged me $230!! I tot to myself, make this the last one and get it done n over with BUT!! I failed my TP because TP said that i was driving too slowly. During every lesson, he will tell me to drive slowly (Below 50KM/hr) if not he will step on the brake.

Have you found a new instructor?? please share with me. I have a TP test coming.

If any guys or girls here need a manual PDI for SSDC, I can recommend my PDI to you.

I took altogether 10 lesson under him and passed my TP the first time yesterday. He is those that will ask you book your TP early then during the waiting time he will teach you and make sure you pass. He is really patience and not those slack PDI.

And his rate i would say its low. (renting of car $150 only)

PM me if you guys need and i'll pass you his name and number :) Cheers

I'm learning from this Mr lay at bb area. Basically he is time orientated. However he is very short tempered.
Incident :
He would write the date, time and location of the next few lessons. One of his few lessons, I called him up and double cnfm the location. He get annoyed and said : it's written there what, you don't know how to see is it? Okay fine.
I suppose most PI teaches 1.5hrs. He insisted 1 hr each, so I have to take half day just to learn 2 lessons at diff timing. Okay fine.
You ask him question, he happy he Anw, if he's not he would say so easy also dont know ask me go back study again. Okay fine.
He wrote wrong location, he insisted not his fault and he said its a win win situation, I lose my time, he lose money.

Seriously, my tp is coming. Another month time, I have yet to learn reverse parking and parallel parking. Also he always ask me slow down slow down. And till now, I bearly uses gear 4. 17th lesson already! Can you guys imagine ?

Wah your instructor seems to teach quite slow, i heard some of them is like that cos he wants to earn money by having more lessons?

I am learning from Mr Ong, Red lancer from bbdc.
He is quite fast, i did reversing directional change on my 4th lesson. Should be learning some parking tomorrow.

But then my instructor's temper isn't good also, but i guess most instructor have to scold to make you remember.

The Mr Yeo that i'm referring, number plate is SBJ 9119G.

If u have good review, so be it. This is my own personal review with him.

If u read carefully, I'm not the ONLY one who gave negative feedback.

Nope, the same Mr Yeo as you.

Who know? Maybe someone has showed him the negative reviews here & he changed?

Split personality or not, I don't know as well.

Like i've said, it's my own review. Whether he's nice or not doesn't matter to me now. I've cut him off, changed a PDI & passed with 8 points. All in first attempt.

Haha, okay. Congratulations! I passed on my first attempt too, under Mr Yeo. Maybe he's just Harvey Dent in disguise. lol.
