For class 3, what's the average number of lessons (if each lesson is 1.5 hours) that people take before clearing TP?

Sorry to hear about your incident. Yes, with him you need to be very direct. For example, if you want to dispute his claims etc, just show him the screenshot and tell him straight. The more “tolerant” we appear to him, the more he may “makan”... so with him, it is wiser to be confrontational.

Hi there, I had a super bad experience with Ivan today.

I cant pm yet so i'll quote you. So last Saturday, 25 Nov, after lesson i booked another lesson for this week, 02 Dec, which i completely forgot about. However i asked him twice over the week whether i had lessons on 02 Dec and 03 Dec and his reply, word for word, was "No booking". And today, being a Saturday, i decided t o sleep in as there's nothing going on for me in the morning. He called me 3 times, 7:53am, 8:18am and 9:09am, and 2 messages, one at 5:21am and 10:03am. The lesson was at 10am. And when i woke up he said that i ignored his reminders and demanded i pay for the missed lesson. When i showed him the evidence that i did ask him whether 02 Dec got lesson or not, he said he has so many students with the same name how he know is me, I find this very unprofessional and irresponsible. I still have the convo in my phone if anyone is interested to see.

Seems like for school vs private now the cost not much diff?

If private is around 36-38$/hr , it would be about 60-63$ /100
For school it’s 68$/100mins non peak and 77$/100mins for peak

I totally second this! I had a few lessons with him and decided that it was enough. And I foolishly paid him upfront for the TP, but i managed to get it refunded. He took lots of coffee/ toilet breaks near one of the workers' dorms and there was once where it took up to 30 mins, so i called it out and he charged me for only 1hr.

Tried to change PDI with Woodlands Driving School but all their instructors can only teach in the afternoons or weekends.

I'm still looking for a reliable PDI for SSDC. Any recommendations?

Totally agree. He teaches his student to cut three lanes without checking blind spots which almost kissed my car. After which acted like a hooligan and came out of his car to confront us. Is this a correct attitude of a professional PDI? 上梁不正下梁歪. Beware of car plate SJN1103M.

Hi, does anyone here has an experience with a PDI at SSDC named Charlie Tan? Apparently he was a driving instructor at BBDC.

Hi, I getting pretty demoralised with my instructor STEVEN ONG CHOON TEE. He is a pdi for ssdc. Taking class 3.

He pretty much scolds without explaining and I am worry if I am learning the right stuffs from him. Any advices from the bros here?

Thinking if I should change a instructor but reading through the replies here, it seems pdi are mostly the same weirdly......going to toilet break/buy drink, not speaking clearly, scolds sarcastically. Also is really hard to get a class 3 pdi now

Try using this.

If you think his teaching is little wrong, then switch to othrs... or even better, change centre, for your own sake... My PDI do scold me me sarcastically but for my own good, but he never does go to toilet and stuff.

recommendations

I was redirected to Mr Neo (Contact no. 98567207, Car plate no. SJJ5520L) as well and I strongly don't recommend people to take classes with this instructor! I had booked a class with him on 18 Nov morning (my third class with him) 1 week in advance. On 17 Nov, around 10.30 pm (less than 24 hours notice!) he called me to say that he wanted to cancel my 18 Nov class for another student who was taking circuit. And of course, I refused given that I had already booked the class in advance and arranged my Saturday schedule. And guess what was his reply.. He said next time if I want to change time, don't expect him to help me. Seriously.......!

Note: He also rescheduled my second class with him and I was kind enough to accept it!

Besides the point mentioned, there are also some other stuff that made me not want to continue the driving lesson with him. So I went to ask for a refund of the enrolment fee on 18 Nov morning. His immediate reply after I told him I do not wish to continue the lesson was "不要更好" (translate: It is EVEN better that I don't want to continue). SO ATTITUDE PROBLEM!

Just my 2 cents! Don't waste your money and time on such a LOUSY driving instructor.

sorry to hear that and thanks for letting me know... i've still had no luck of finding anyone. Have you changed to another instructor or do you know of anyone else?

I'm *currently* with Cathay! I'm learning with Mr Ang for 3A! I've already cleared quite a number of lessons. They seem very comprehensive as they have 3 sections. They touch on a closed controlled environment as the first section. It's conducted at the truck carpark behind. Second, road behavior and third, circuit. I've not been to the circuit yet.

Mr Ang is friendly and doesn't really scold, is very patient and will make small talks. Moreover, his passing rates is 58.62%, out of 29 tested.

Hope this helps!

Hello! Just an update here. I passed my test yesterday! First timer here. Scored 10 demerit points. 4 points is failure to check for safety at Parallel parking (did't check blind spot(?)) and 6 for failure to slow down for road hazard at the TP test route (car turning out from slip road, I guess).

As friendly as he is, he (Mr Ang YC) does nag lah. Then again, who doesn't? Those staying at Bedok can give him a try! Rates are 51 for 1.5 hour lesson, 100 if heading for circuit (2 hours + Circuit = (34 x 2)+ $32 = $68+ $32 = $100). I took quite alot of lessons though. Then again, if I didn't, I'd probably have failed.

Can call Cathay Driving Center at 6443 6011. or visit them at B217 Bedok North Street 1.

Cheers and all the best for those whom are taking their 3A!
