lol, for a desktop replacement, i guess battery life is the least of most of our concerns here. Read from Cnet reviews that the NP9280 can manage a descent 1hour 8 mins in real world tests on a corei7 though.

guys im in dillema, i want a gaming laptop since it has benn like 4 years since i purchased a laptop.

the candidates are sager 8662 and 5797.

no matter how i see it, i will definitely get the 5797 in terms of specs and the vga, BUT, the 5797 lacks of the hdmi out port plug and instead it has the svideo plug -_-, even the 9280 has this same problem....

what should i do about this choice... i was thinking to just chiong the 9850, but after upgrade here and there, it came close to almost 5.5k X)

if i do purchase it, it would left me few months of eating water and bread for the whole day

another that bother me is the processor, should i go for the duo core T9900 or quad core q9000/q9100. will there be alot of difference between them??

If I am not wrong the 9280 has both DVI and HDMI ports out, either way, the minimum you need is a single HDMI as it can convert to a DVI for PC monitors. Anyway what kind of res do you see you will be using? anything 1920x1200 and below, the normal D-sub VGA port can handle at 60Hz, let be DVI.

For gaming, the 9850 is the best laptop money can buy at the moment, reason being the SLi config. Otherwise, if you do more desktop work, the 9280 will be better as it rules the 9850 in almost any other area except gaming.

Lol, I feel for you, it will be same for most of us I guess, $5k on a laptop is a reasonably large sum.

I will go for the quad if I were you. But once again many would say that most games do not support multi-core, so a higher clocked dual core might be better. The quad is more future proof as well, particularly if you see yourself not getting another laptop for another 4 years!

ill be using it on my tv, so yeah i need something that is full hd, that is the reason why i consider the 8662.

I am intending to get the NP9280 myself, so I can help with questions regarding NP9280 or NP9850 I happen to have some images of the NP9280 showing all the ports, though it won't be as flashy as your acer, I guess this photos are far better than what the official sites have. These are quite part of the "homework" part I did for my purchase as well.

o yeah in the neighbouring forum, i saw this Sager 5797, 9280, 9850 and 8662 Now Available with Blu-Ray Burner!

but the local reseller do not have those option yet though.

ps: ok i went to the pctorque web itself, the 5797 has the hdmi port and also at the same page it has differnt ports, i wonder which is the real picture for the unit itself.

you can always compare the prices from both resellers...

For the quote I got from both Murco and Sgcube, even after the sgcube 3% discount, the price for my unit is the same for both, with Murco about $50 still cheaper. The difference is the warranty, 1year part and labor for Murco vs 4yr part and 3year labor for Sgcube.

Still aliasing with them for their best prices haha.

Though not many people will need an use a blue ray burner, the price difference with or without it can go into about $500. So that can differentiate a good buy from a bad one.

guys, I am very interested in the sager new gaming laptops but I could use some feedback on the following concerns.
I have acer aspire 8920, one of the main reason(besides being compulsive) was because the keyboard was not all the way 'in' so I could type comfortably as i play alot of mmorpg.
Do you existing sager users have any gripes on the keyboard layout which looks to me to be much further 'in' or closer to the screen.

sorry but just some minor concern on argonomics if anyone could share.

Also coulld I get a recommended spec and which sager to get given the following that I mainly play mmorpg related games on the laptop, ie need decent fps when on raids etc. I really leave the hot new titels to consoles given thats the only gaming time I can sit back and relax.

Sager 17" laptop, in my opinion do not have a full numpad on the right, that is the only gripe I have for the keyboard layout.

After all, sager is not known for their designs, their layouts will still remain rather dated, with the exception of the NP9850

yes...how come theres a VGA plug on it?
i think its wrong one....new sager laptops dont include any VGA output anymore...only DVI

sager 2098 is good only if you dont expect too much from a mediocre graphics....and , im not sure about teh battery life..because we all are using high-end graphics which consumed lots of battery power..

i think 2098 is more than 2 hours...
mine can get around 1~1.5 hours

resellers will not show up on comex..the only way you buy these laptops is from the websites of respective resellers
