It's not even comparable, 8690/8760 has 5870MR/460M/470M/480M which are all top grade graphics card, xps 14's 425M is not even comparable. The previous mentioned cards are all at least 3-400% faster than 425M.

Hello expert, are there any ODM notebook that is close to the two Sager notebook, but uses an older version of GPU? I dun really need such high GPU. So, will the price be close to the Dell XPS 14 i mentioned earlier?

If you don't need the high end GPU, just get a weaker new laptop like dell XP 14.

Can you recommend similar "branded" notebook that the specs is about the same, or close to these Sager NP8690 or NP8760 notebook ?

Is the branded price about the same price as the above 2 original makers one ?

There is Asus G53/73, Alienware M15x, MSI GX660. Yes, price is about the same, some like Alienware M15x is more expensive.

Thank you for the detail answers...It seems like buying the "branded" one are about the same price as OEM ones

Here's my last questions, are the notebook you mentioned good built quality as well ? The reason i asked this is because from my point of view, it should be of high quality built, as it's originally manufactured by notebook makers....

Will be waiting for your advice soon

The build quality is above average, out of all those laptops, only alienware m15x has better build quality.

Also, it's not that the other laptops are rebrands, they are different laptops, Asus makes their own laptops as well, and so is MSI probably. Alienware uses Flextronics but design is by Alienware. It's not like just because the laptop is from manufacturer straight to consumer it means it will be definitely of high quality.

Hello fzhfzh,

After all my conversation with you, thank you for providing me lots of answer....

I find that i do not need to buy manufacturers own brand notebook, because the price is about the same as those "branded" ones......

I'll watch out for next year IT show again, then decide which notebook to pick up.....

Once again, thank you very much

Hi all users of this thread

I just ordered my new 1st ever Sager laptop from Mucro Asia, Sager NP8130. As this is my 1st ever parallel import Sager laptop..pardon me for asking these questions as some might sound stupid.

1. Does Mucro deliver on time? According to Mucro Asia, the Sager laptops will arrive ed January. Can I get my laptop before CNY??

2. Are there any laptop coolers that go well with my Sager NP 8130?

I've used the Coolermaster Notepal U3, very nice and rather ergonomic. The CM Notepal X2 is not too bad too but the fan is noisy.

3. What if we run out of Sager resellers in SG? Who repairs our Sagers then?

4. Are there any other points that I should take note of for Sager or Windows laptops? It's been a year since I used Windows....leaving the world of Mac and returning to Windows.

These are the specs for my Sager:

Sager NP8130
15.6 inch FHD/Matte 16: 9
SYSTEM CPU: CORE i7-2720QM 2.2 GHz
Graphics Card: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M w/1.5GB GDDR5
Thermal Compound: IC Diamond
SYSTEM MEMORY UPGRADE: 8GB DDR3 1333 SDRAM 2x4G
HARD DISK DRIVE UPGRADE: 750G 7200rpm SATA II
Wireless Card: 802.11B+G+N Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Combo Card
OS: MS Windows 7 Home Premium
OPTICAL DISK DRIVE: 8X Super Multi Drive
Sager Pixel Warranty: none
Sager Warranty | parts: 3 year warranty(parts) (+ S$204.79)
Addon Local Mucro Warranty | labour: 2 year Regional carryin (labour) (+ S$51.57)

According to what I know, NP8130 is currently out of stock world wide. The 2nd batch of laptop will start shipping in 31st Jan, so, chances are; you won't get it in time. The prob with Mucro Asia delivery time usually has nothing to do with them, cause the problem usually lies with their supplier :s13: They only order laptop from sager after ur deposit is paid.

2. Are there any laptop coolers that go well with my Sager NP 8130?

i highly doubt laptop coolers would be of much help. can try checking out tis review for more info http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...er-np8150-clevo-p150hm-review-forerunner.html

3. What if we run out of Sager resellers in SG? Who repairs our Sagers then?
sgcubehub is another reseller for Sager in SG (but i'm not sure if they will repair ur sager laptop that is bought from mucro asia ;o). There are 2 type of warranty; sager warranty and local warranty. sager warranty = if mucro asia 1 day goes poof u can still get it repaired by sending it to sager. for local warranty = if mucro asia goes poof tis warranty goes poof with it.
P.S: Frankly speaking, I have no idea why u bought 3 year sager warranty and 2 year local warranty... i believe it still ends up with a 3 yr warranty and not 3 + 2....

4. Are there any other points that I should take note of for Sager or Windows laptops? It's been a year since I used Windows....leaving the world of Mac and returning to Windows.

juz enjoy a laptop with no bloatware!

Ah crap!

The Sager NP8130 is out of stock worldwide?! Well, if it will only ship on January 31st...I suppose I can only expect mine to come in mid-Feb....

I saw the SG Cubehub website as well but the price was more expensive and the warranty wasn't really appealing compared to what Mucro offers (I don't need on-site warranty, my church is near Sim Lim Square where Mucro Asia does its repairs?)

Oh and I think you might have seen the warranty wrongly. It's 3 years of free hardware and 2 years of free labour cost? The Mucro warranty is solely for labour purposes... Unless I've got it wrong....

Oh and more questions from me:

1. What is Zepto and Clevo? Are they the same entity?

2. Does Sager provide the resource DVDs for us? I usually format my computers on an annual basis so it would be great if I have the resource DVDs...saves me the toruble of going to PC Dreams.

Thanks!

Very tempting - NP8130 but have bought NP8690 on April last year:(

I also bought it through Mucro Asia as compare the cubehub which much more expensive.

Some advise to you all who want to buy Sager. My nightmare finally come last month when my laptop cant boot up with blue screen.

I called Mucro and tell the staff the problem but that not my first call, I have tried for many time n days before somebody answer my call.

I was told that the laptop have to be sent back to USA and it will took at least one month to repair and return to me.

I was very disappointed with their service and regret buying from them. They dont service Sager laptop here as stated. How can I wait for one month without it.

I call up sgcubehub to see if they could help me to solve the problem. They told me to bring it down to thier service centre for check. After a day, they call me and was told the GPU have caused the problem. And tell me the cost of repair. Then I have to weight between warranty and my money. In the end, I told them to help me repair even it was under warranty by Mucro cos I cant wait for one month.

I got my laptop back in a week time. I was told that there were some guys like me went to them for help. Their laptops were also under warranty but was told by Mucro, need to send back USA for repair. But their were not repaired due to high cost which not worth paying when under warranty. I dont know if they are still waiting for thier laptops or not.

I realise that cheaper price does not mean I got a better deal. Next time if I going to buy other same products with different prices, I will do some homeworks why was that so? I am willing to pay higher a bit to play safe if they prove why we shall buy from them.

Very very disappointed with them.

Hope u all can pick some points from my past experience with them.

Hmm...that's a really bad case for Mucro Asia. I can sympathize with you about that.

However, if SG Cubehub shuts down its operations, then folks who bought Sager laptops from them will also be left in the dark? Unless they want to DHL/Fedex their laptops all the way back to the US.

I suppose we all are taking a risk in purchasing a Sager laptop simply because regardless of Mucro or Cubehub, these are 'parallel imports' and technical support may be poor.

To those who are still deciding on whether or not you want to purchase a sager, please read skylinewee's case as well as various posts on this forum to learn about things that might go wrong. A well informed customer is more likely to make a better purchase.

To skylinewee, I hope you don't interpret my response as a defensive stance for Mucro Asia as that was not my intention. I'm trying to take a neutral stance as being biased is not going to help any forum user.

Also, Did you get your warranty void because you serviced the laptop at Cubehub instead of PC Dreams? If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay and was the issue resolved? I think it will be useful for the Sager users in Singapore to know whether a Sager laptop purchased from Mucro can be serviced at Cubehub without having its warranty declared void as well as the quality of Cubehub's support service.

Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us!

For those of you who do not really know what the full story is.
We will tell you what is actually happening now. We have so far had 2 customers who have had to pay the full price of new parts/handling fee and shipping BECAUSE they have been using local repair shops to "repair" and cause damage to their laptops, including those that claim to be "recommended by Sager".

We have also made the mistake of using local repair/service centres and also had to pay for the FULL price to replace DAMAGED parts caused by a local repair/service centre.

FROM NOW ON, our policy is:
All MAJOR repairs MUST go to Sager. Only Sager is capable of giving you the BEST repair service. We will not apologize to you for making you wait for getting the laptop to Sager HQ and getting the brand/manufacturer to do a PROPER repair for you. All good things come to those who wait. If you don't wait and get some cowboy repair shop to do your laptop. You should expect Sager to NOT honour your warranty. We have seen chips/components missing and removed/modified etc. Sager can tell whether your laptop was modified/damaged by whoever you allow to touch. When they find that you have tampered with your machine, expect to pay FULL PRICE for all the trouble we/Sager have to go through. You must take responsibility.

Sager is very STRICT regarding warranties. Don't be fooled by excessive marketing statements/tactics.

Hi Mucro Asia

Could I clarify with you regarding your comments.

1. If our Sager laptop has serious defective hardware... could you elaborate on what is considered as serious? I'm assuming you mean CPU, GPU problems?

2. If the Sager laptop is sent back to the US, who will pay for the shipping and/or labor costs?

3. How long would it take for repairs in the US?

Anyway I just ordered the Sager NP 5160 from you guys this evening. Do you have any idea on when it will come? Mid-Feb like the NP8130?

Thanks

Clearly, Mucro Asia after support service is not up to standard. They keep pushing on sales, once the laptop is handed over, contacting them for repair and support they will tell u that "have to send to USA".

Why Sgcubehub is capable to servicing the laptop? because mucro asia techican is clearly not experience or capable in troubleshooting and end up creating more damage. Low pay, low skilled tech what service you expect? :s27:

1. Motherboard GPU screen. Case by case basis is different.
2. If it is a GENUINE PROBLEM. We pay for it and it is free. If it is tampered by another repair shop or you, you need to pay full cost.
3. usually one month.
8130 early feb. 5160 mid feb estimation.

You have obviously not read the message properly. We have to clean up the mess created by other repair shops. When you tamper with the machines you are expected to pay full price for the costs of repair.

Here is a nice picture for you to see the work from a repair shop that claims to be "recommended by Sager". Use at your own risk.
