Wah....So $2860(could be more)?

actually, if you look into it in another angle, it may not be that ex:

front phone 4.6 inch equivalent of an iphone 6 - launch price US $649.

using the latest ipad pro model 11" (512GB storage) - US $1149.

(though the fold size is 7.3" and ipad pro is 11", fold comes with 12GB of ram and ipad pro only comes with 4GB of ram), so give and take, lets just say $1100.

$649 + $1100 = $1749.

~$250 extra for the novelty, convenience and most imptly show off. I thought the price is not something out of this world.

Isn't fold when unfolded almost the size of huawei mate 20x? Huawei mate 20x screen is 7.2.. Fold tablet is only 7. 3

It's now all down to pricing :s13::s13::s13:

*Edited. Never mind about pricing. Huawei should be cheaper, as it only has 2 screens vs Samsung's 3

But look at the crease like line, when it unfolds. It just looks too cheap

Should still be sticking with Samsung

I'm guessing somewhere along the line of $2,675 - $2,899

Totally agree with you. While the screen size looks impressive on Mate X, samsung fold looks much premium.

Some reasons why Samsung fold is more suitable for me (may be subjective):
1. Samsung fold is certainly more premium.
2. Looking at the earlier Samsung fold demo vs Mate X video, i saw that the crease is really bad on the Mate X, could be due to Samsung fold using a different kind of plastic material.
3. Though many people may disagree, i prefer the size of the Samsung fold as i can do 1 hand action most of the time (which is precisely the reason why it suits me alot. When it is folded, it is a phone which i can do 1 hand typing, etc.) and when i need to watch a video, i will just unfold to get a bigger screen.
4. Durability is also a concern for Mate X as it folds outwards compared to Samsung fold where it folds inwards.
5. Pricing. I thought Samsung fold is already so ex (I could not even afford for Gen 1), but Mate X is even more ex.

I don't know how much thought have Huawei put into developing this folding phone. The screen being foldable means it will not be protected by rigid scratch resistant materials eg. gorilla glass. As such by allowing both screens to be exposed by designing it for outward folding shows lack of design thinking in durability and surface protection.

I’m guessing. When one folds out, there’s no way to get rid of the slight extra material, when unfold

Unlike folding inwards, the extra material is hidden when folded.
