Wait for Xiaomi foldable phone. I think they are smarter to have a single big screen with 2 folds. Samsung over-engineered it to have 2 screen and 6 cameras. And when in phone mode, Xiaomi looks bigger and more usable than Samsung 4.6 inch.

Samsung is first but I think Xiaomi will popularise it with its more economical design and more affordable pricing.

xiaomi foldable is not bad.....but when it is folded, the glass will touch the surface not matter which side you put it......

They already told CNA that Singapore's pricing will be more than USA pricing. So yes. Expect to cost more.

FYI... Huawei's screen is only tested for 100k bends while Samsung is tested for 200k bends.. meaning you can fold 100 times a day for 5 years...

If yo are earning ringgit or rupiah, they're are cheaper.

Sadly as a Samsung Fan since S2..... I will be more interested with Huawei foldable then Samsung fold.

The 4.6' front and the gap is critical flaw for me.

Being such small front screen, I will definitely open up much more then usual for normal usage. (web browsing, email readings)


Having a gap to protect the screen or whatever purpose does not make sense to me. Additional thickness and risk of have more pressure concentrate on the gap area will look more fragile compared to Huawei which it can close nicely seamlessly together.

I nearly wanted to get the communicator last time, but too bulky haha...

So far the only clamshell phone I ever owned was the Motorola StarTAC 90 and X.

I find Mate X design nice to be honest but have to be careful as the screen is also on the back when folded.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold looks more premium.

Huawei looks better. But the tablet grip bar should be on the side to be held by left hand instead of right hand as you will use and touch the tablet screen with right hand as most people are right handed.

I wun be leaving the huawei on the table when folded, both screens risk kenna scratch whichever way you put it. Really not practical imho.

Actually, if you think about it, I believe it is made intentionally for the front screen to be small. The use case by Samsung is likely to be a tablet that is small enough to fit into your pocket, rather than the other way.

If the front size is already almost as big as the tablet (like Mate X), then the use case for having a tablet in a pocket will not be clear already. In any case, the size of Mate X in folded position is already very big, not sure if it can fit inside a pocket nicely.

Another not so practical design which defeats the convenience of whipping out the phone and fold or unfold at ease without the need to remove it from the case. Seriously, really love the slimness but if they could design an inward folding phone with such slimness, it will definitely be my next phone.

Guess have to wait for someone to design an inward folding phone like samsung's with Huawei's slimness before I decide to get a folding phone.

Inward folding will waste the screen and you will need extra screen for the phone which will make it thicker and heavier.

Actually, Huawei just need to design a half flap cover behind the tablet that can flip to cover the back screen when you fold it and using magnets to secure it.
