Penalty charges. Not sure for StarHub, but I will enquire first before I sign the $238 plan for StarHub. Currently I have combo 12 plan with Singtel already and that line is purely for yearly recontract for the iPhone 11 Max 512 GB.

It’s the price of the phone for the $238 contract, which is $699. Since got corporate discount still not so bad. My combo 12 also got discount, 25% or 20% can’t remember. But only paying $180+ monthly for my combo 12 with Singtel.

If by tomorrow evening got stock at Vivo I may go down there to see. If not I go paragon to take a look at demo set, at the same time go see the new iPhones at Apple Store

When you offset using the $500 discount, would it be $500 off the "new contract" Combo 12 price of the new phone, or the retail price of the new phone?

Initially I didn’t want to take the Galaxy Fold, I even tell myself said that it’s a rubbish phone but see some people here post their Galaxy Fold really making me very tempted.

Some more the snapdragon processor makes me more tempting

Maybe Saturday stocks will come in as silver one coming in
Bro, I collected a silver model yesterday.....so it's available. The only issue is the availability of stock, for both black and silver.

I had a film type SP cut to fit the front 4.6" screen.....more for my peace of mind than anything else.

Edit - IF anyone sees or hear about 3rd party cases for the Fold, please give a shoutout here or in the Fold accessories thread. The case that comes with the phone is nice, but I want more protection for my investment.

S11 will not be a SD variant for sg....this is comparable to my 1+7pro (batt...90hz vs bigger screen)

I'm just letting him know that SD855 is dying tech leow. You can always import the set with SD865

Also, in another month or two the HW Mate X will be released with Kirin 990 as well...this is new tech

Doing the cost comparison:

Galaxy Fold = $3088 Retail Price

For Starhub Combo 12, Galaxy Fold costs $699, then see the following:

YEAR ONE SCENARIO
At $238 per month, but after 20% CIS (Corporate Discount), it'll be around $190.40 per month. Assuming we "get a new phone" after 12 months, that's a sunken subscription cost of 190 x 12 = $2280. Year one total cost is $699 + $2280 = $2979 (which is technically lower than retail of $3088, but realistically excludes various service and tax charges).

YEAR TWO SCENARIO
Verified against Starhub's Q&A support page, I see that "[t]he $500 voucher can be used to offset against both the early re-contract fee ($300) and the upfront payment of the device of your choice." Assuming new Galaxy Fold 2 costs the same as before (eg $3088), and assuming recontracting at Combo 12 yields discounted price of $699 again, you still have $200 discount leftover from paying recontracting fee. Thus you pay $499, while continuing to pay $190 per month. In all, your Fold 2 costs $499 + $2280 = $2779 (which is even cheaper than year one!).

DOES the above logic hold?

Thanks,
Brainopera

That’s what I am doing if I were to get the fold. Recontract every year after I get my 13th month voucher.

Of course. I got my iPhone XS Max 512 GB last year, market price for the phone is $2,349, while I only pay $190 X 12 months, you do the math and this year will be getting my iPhone 11 Pro Max 512 GB. Like mentioned in my previous post, my Combo 12 from Singtel had 20% to 25% discount due to multi line discount in the past. If I cancel this combo 12 and re apply again will not have any discount as I’m not a Singtel circle member.

Assuming you want to get the fold every year, otherwise not worth it. It’s not worth if you don’t have CIS and you sign for 2 years just to get the fold. Like what the other guy say 2 years the fold will cost 5-6k.

Mat3 X is expected in Nov
When it was annouced...ut was kirn980 and cost 500usd more than Fold.
It could reach 4Ksgd (with the crazy markup)
and without google, it makes it harder to be available intl will jack the price higer

It has been upgraded with Kirin 990. Two versions available 4G and 5G. Likely 4G version will reach here. Just wish it has the same camera system as the Mate 30 Pro. Super tok kong camera features

Well....expect to pay more for new tech lor

exactly. Don't know why people even consider mate x. It fold outwards, how are you able to maintain the backscreen with no scratches? Unless you put cover. But if you put cover, every time you want to unfold, you need to take out the cover which is so troublesome. Besides, if you want to selfie, also need to take out cover.
