if u r rooted with a safe kernal like philz or speedmod, i suggest u download the f/w from xda or sammobile. do a clean swipe then flash using pc odin. or follow progene's post. not upgrade then reset.
but backup all data or setting first.

Hi Guy, I have redo my guide based on SG Jellybean version (now 6th edition). Hope this will help newbie in rooting and obtaining SG jellybean. Of course, XDA would be the best preferred choice.

(with speedmod K5-3)

Hi, using Method 2, how long it take to flash to jb? My phone seems like hanging for >15 mins? Any help? Was on ics speed mod k3-13. Try for 2 times but keep on hangin...un plug battery, luckily still can go back to my previous ics..

hmm.. not that I'm aware of. if you are on that screen... after a while, it will start to flash... if more than 15 min mean something is wrong...try to put the jb file into your desktop instead of c drive/folder/folder/folder....

Touch wood....I dId not encounter any auto restart since going to official sg jb... but of course, my current state it's not the best optimised yet as I upgrade from leak jb to Taiwan jb, and when sg jb out, I flash over to sg jb without factory reset. Phone abit lag, but still acceptable...Will need the time to factory reset across weekend. reinstall app is not the difficult part ( with titanium backup pro). is the customization of app and wallpaper, that's the killer.

manage to flash over to jb at home, also in speedmod k5-3. noticed the significant improved on my note speed, though never proceed with the factory reset, not sure if I need to do the factory reset?

It is always recommended to do a factory reset whenever there is an update or even if u wanna flash a kernel or a custom rom. It is always stated to do a factory reset and have enough battery juice on xda website.

But it depends on you if you dont wanna do a factory reset. Each on his own preference.

I have always done a factory reset and so far my note, without the speed kernel is smooth and the battery can last for, yesterday was 17 hours with 41 percent remaining.
